What Is Kaizen and What Will You Gain from It?UntitledThe Philosophy Behind Continuous Improvement

Kaizen training in Switzerland is a one-day, non-certification skills programme that teaches professionals to lead and take part in Kaizen (改善, 'change for the better') continuous improvement events. Kaizen is a Japanese philosophy and structured method for improving processes through small, incremental, team-based changes, developed within the Toyota Production System (TPS) and brought to Western business by Masaaki Imai in his 1986 book, Kaizen: The Key to Japan's Competitive Success. The programme covers the Kaizen mindset, the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle, the eight wastes of Lean (DOWNTIME), and the tools used to plan, run and sustain a Kaizen event. It suits operations managers, Lean coordinators, quality engineers and team leaders in Switzerland's manufacturing, pharmaceutical, MedTech and precision-engineering sectors, where efficiency and quality set the standard. Delivered in live virtual, classroom and corporate on-site formats, this hands-on course builds capability you apply immediately at the Gemba. On completion you receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning and the confidence to drive continuous improvement across your team.

The Market Forces Making Kaizen Skills Essential in Switzerland

    The Strong Franc Squeezes Margins

A strong Swiss franc raises the cost of exports and production, forcing manufacturers to defend margins through relentless efficiency, exactly the waste reduction Kaizen is built to deliver.

    Kaizen builds waste-elimination skills

    Falling Industrial Output

Swiss industrial production fell around 7.1% year on year in early 2026, pushing operations leaders to do more with less and to remove waste from every process.

    Kaizen builds process-improvement skills

Some of the World's Highest Labour Costs

With premium labour costs, every hour must add value. Kaizen equips teams to cut motion, waiting and rework so skilled people focus on the work that matters most.

Kaizen builds flow and standard-work skills

    Regulated, High-Precision Production

Pharma, MedTech and precision engineering demand tight quality and traceability. Structured Kaizen events help reduce defects and deviations while sustaining compliance.

Kaizen builds root-cause and quality skills

    Industry 4.0 and Digital Manufacturing

As Swiss plants adopt IoT, automation and digital twins, stable, standardised processes are essential. Kaizen and 5S create the disciplined baseline that digital tools build on.

Kaizen builds 5S and standardisation skills

    Shortage of Skilled Improvement Talent

With improvement facilitators in short supply, professionals who can plan and run Kaizen events are increasingly valuable to Swiss employers competing on quality and efficiency.

The Kaizen Skills You Will Put to WorkTools You Will Use at the Gemba

This Kaizen programme builds practical, hands-on capability across the full improvement cycle. By the end you can plan, facilitate and sustain Kaizen events using the core Lean and quality tools, ready to apply them to real processes at work.

    Run a Structured Kaizen Event

Plan and facilitate a Kaizen event through every phase, from Gemba observation and current-state mapping to future-state design, implementation, standardisation and closeout.

Identify and Eliminate the Eight Wastes

Use the DOWNTIME framework to spot defects, overproduction, waiting, unused talent, transport, inventory, motion and extra processing at the actual workplace.

Solve Root Causes with PDCA and 5 Whys

Apply the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle, 5 Whys and Fishbone diagrams to move quickly from a problem to a tested countermeasure rather than a quick patch.

    Apply 5S and Standard Work

Organise the workspace with 5S and lock in improvements through standard work so that gains do not revert once the event has ended.

Map Flow, Motion and Cycle Times

Build current-state process maps and spaghetti diagrams, and run time and cycle-time observations to reveal bottlenecks and unnecessary movement.

    Sustain a Continuous Improvement Culture

Use the Kaizen newspaper, 30-60-90 day audits, visual management and daily Kaizen to embed improvement as an everyday habit across the team.

Yes. In Switzerland's high-cost, quality-driven economy, employers in pharma, MedTech and manufacturing value people who can systematically remove waste. The skills apply immediately at work and support roles from Continuous Improvement Specialist to Operational Excellence Manager.

The course suits operations and manufacturing managers, Lean coordinators, production supervisors, team leaders, quality engineers, Six Sigma practitioners, and HR or OD professionals building a continuous improvement culture. It is relevant to any sector where structured, team-based improvement is needed.

No. There are no formal prerequisites. Some familiarity with Lean principles is helpful but not required, as the course introduces the Kaizen mindset, PDCA and the core tools from first principles.

No. Kaizen has no formal awarding body or examination, so this is a practical skills course rather than a certification. On completion you receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning that confirms you have attended the programme.

    General

    What is Kaizen training?

Kaizen training is a one-day, non-certification skills course that teaches you to lead and take part in continuous improvement events. It covers the Kaizen philosophy, the PDCA cycle, the eight wastes of Lean, and the tools to plan, run and sustain a Kaizen event. Kaizen means 'change for the better' and originates in the Toyota Production System.

Is Kaizen training worth it for professionals in Switzerland?

Yes. In Switzerland's high-cost, quality-driven economy, employers in pharma, MedTech and manufacturing value people who can systematically remove waste. The skills apply immediately at work and support roles from Continuous Improvement Specialist to Operational Excellence Manager.

    Who should attend Kaizen training?

The course suits operations and manufacturing managers, Lean coordinators, production supervisors, team leaders, quality engineers, Six Sigma practitioners, and HR or OD professionals building a continuous improvement culture. It is relevant to any sector where structured, team-based improvement is needed.

Do I need prior Lean experience to take this course?

No. There are no formal prerequisites. Some familiarity with Lean principles is helpful but not required, as the course introduces the Kaizen mindset, PDCA and the core tools from first principles.

    Is Kaizen a certification?

No. Kaizen has no formal awarding body or examination, so this is a practical skills course rather than a certification. On completion you receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning that confirms you have attended the programme.

    Pricing

How much does Kaizen training cost in Switzerland?

Fees vary by delivery format (live virtual, classroom or corporate on-site), group size and schedule, so pricing is available on request. Contact a learning advisor for a current quote for Switzerland.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically covers instruction across all six Kaizen modules, hands-on workshop simulations, structured courseware, practical tools and templates, learner support, and a course completion record. Ask us for a full breakdown for your chosen format.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate on-site training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for operations, quality and engineering teams. Ask about corporate or group pricing for a tailored quote.

Is it cheaper to train a whole team together?

Training a team together is usually the most cost-effective option and is especially valuable, because teams practise a Kaizen event on their own real processes. Request a group quote and we will scope it to your site.

    What payment methods are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for Kaizen training?

No. Kaizen training is a non-certification course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on workshop simulations, team exercises and group discussion during the one-day programme.

    How is my learning assessed?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you apply the Kaizen methodology through practical simulations and team activities throughout the day, so you practise planning and facilitating a Kaizen event during the training itself.

What do I receive on completing the course?

You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning confirming you have completed the Kaizen training. It recognises attendance and participation rather than a certification, as Kaizen has no formal awarding body.

Does the completion record expire or need renewal?

No. The skills you learn are immediately applicable and do not expire, and there is no renewal to maintain. You can keep applying Kaizen at work and progress to further Lean and quality training when ready.

Will I be able to run a Kaizen event after the course?

Yes. You will be able to plan a Kaizen event, facilitate it through its phases, apply tools such as 5S, standard work and the Kaizen newspaper, and embed daily Kaizen to sustain the improvements you make.

    Course Content

What topics does the Kaizen course cover?

The course covers six modules: the Kaizen philosophy, the PDCA cycle and thinking tools, planning a Kaizen event, running a Kaizen event phase by phase, Kaizen tools in practice, and sustaining improvement to build a continuous improvement culture.

How long is the Kaizen training?

The course is delivered in one day (8 hours) and can also be run as two half-day sessions. It covers the full methodology, from the Kaizen philosophy through to running and sustaining events, with hands-on simulations throughout.

    What practical elements are included?

Hands-on workshop simulation runs throughout the day. You practise Gemba observation, current-state mapping, waste identification, root-cause analysis and future-state design using realistic process scenarios, so the learning stays applied.

Which tools will I learn to use?

You will work with PDCA, 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, the eight wastes of Lean (DOWNTIME), 5S, standard work, spaghetti diagrams, time and cycle-time observation, and the Kaizen newspaper for tracking follow-up actions.

How does Kaizen relate to Lean and Six Sigma?

Kaizen is the engine of Lean and the Toyota Production System, and Kaizen events are used in the Improve and Control phases of Six Sigma DMAIC. The training complements Value Stream Mapping, 7 QC Tools and Poka Yoke training.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in Kaizen training?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete your booking, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you need help choosing.

    What training formats are available?

We offer Kaizen training online (live virtual), in the classroom, and as customised corporate on-site delivery, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule and team. See upcoming schedules to find a session that suits you.

    How soon can I start?

Public sessions run regularly in live virtual and classroom formats, and corporate on-site dates are arranged around your team's availability. Check the upcoming schedules or ask an advisor about the next available batch for Switzerland.

Can I book Kaizen training on site for my team in Switzerland?

Yes. Corporate on-site training is available across Switzerland and is particularly effective, as your team can plan and practise a Kaizen event using your own real processes. Request a group quote to get started.

What is the reschedule or refund policy?

Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and refunds and cancellations are handled per our published policy. Contact our support team for the details that apply to your booking.
