Why COBIT 5 Skills Are in Demand Across Switzerland

    Rising Regulatory Pressure

FINMA Circular 2023/1 requires Swiss financial institutions to strengthen operational resilience across ICT, cyber and data risk, exactly the governance maturity the COBIT 5 implementation lifecycle is built to raise.

COBIT 5-I builds lifecycle and governance skills

    The AI Governance Gap

FINMA expects institutions using AI to manage governance, accountability, robustness and transparency. Many still lack the control framework that structured governance improvement provides.

COBIT 5-I builds accountability and control skills

Cyber Risk Is Now a Board Issue

With cyber-enabled fraud rising, Swiss regulators treat cyber risk as a governance and resilience matter beyond IT, driving demand for leaders who can embed governance across the enterprise.

COBIT 5-I connects IT risk to strategy

    Governance Talent Is Scarce

Governance, risk and compliance ranks among Switzerland's most in-demand skills, yet professionals who can lead a full COBIT improvement programme remain rare and sought after.

COBIT 5-I makes certified governance leads stand out

    Exam-Focused and Practical

"The open-book exam practice was the most useful part. The trainer showed us how to navigate the Implementation book quickly under time pressure, and the scenario questions matched the real exam well. I passed on my first attempt."

    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Implementation exam?

It is an open-book, objective-testing exam of 4 questions, each worth 20 marks, for 80 marks in total. Only the COBIT 5 Implementation book and the COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide are permitted. It is based on the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus (2022 version).

How long is the exam and what is the passing score?

You have 2.5 hours (150 minutes) to complete the exam. The pass mark is 50%, meaning 40 marks or more out of the 80 available.

What are the prerequisites for the exam?

COBIT 5 Foundation certification is required. Candidates who do not hold Foundation must take and pass it before sitting the Implementation exam, as Foundation knowledge is assumed throughout.

How and where do I sit the exam?

The exam is delivered by PeopleCert, either through OnVUE online proctoring, available 24/7, or at PeopleCert authorised test centres. You can sit it from your home or office in Switzerland or at a test centre.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can re-sit the exam through PeopleCert; re-sit fees and policy apply, so confirm the current terms at peoplecert.org. Our training includes first-attempt guidance and scenario-based mock questions to help you prepare thoroughly.

    Course Content

What topics does the training cover?

The training covers four topic areas: the need for a governance framework and the seven-phase implementation lifecycle, change enablement, programme management, and continuous improvement. Each maps to one 20-mark exam question.

What are the seven phases of the COBIT 5 implementation lifecycle?

They are: what are the drivers, where are we now, where do we want to be, what needs to be done, how do we get there, did we get there, and how do we keep the momentum going. The lifecycle is a continuous improvement cycle, not a one-off project.

How long is the training and how is it delivered?

The programme runs for 16 hours, typically over two full days or four half-days. It is delivered online as live virtual instructor-led training, in the classroom, or as customised corporate group training for teams.

Do I need prior experience beyond Foundation?

No formal work experience is required, though the Implementation level is designed for practitioners who lead or support governance improvement. COBIT 5 Foundation is the only formal prerequisite, and the training builds on that knowledge with applied, scenario-based learning.

Is the courseware aligned to the current syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus (2022 version) and references the COBIT 5 Implementation book and COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide, the two permitted open-book materials.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in the COBIT 5 Implementation course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you need help choosing a batch.

    What training formats are available?

We offer online (live virtual) instructor-led training, classroom training, and customised corporate group training, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule and team. See upcoming schedules to find a batch that works for you.

    How soon can I start?

New live virtual and corporate batches run regularly, so you can usually start within a short time of enrolling. Check the upcoming schedules or ask an advisor about the next available cohort in your time zone.

Can I reschedule or transfer my enrolment?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or move to another batch, and selected plans allow you to attend the training twice. Contact support to arrange a change to your enrolment.

Refunds and cancellations are handled per our published policy, and selected plans include a money-back guarantee. Reach out to our team for the details that apply to your enrolment.
