    For Individuals

    For Individuals

SIAM Foundation training helps IT service management professionals move beyond single-supplier thinking and govern several providers as one joined-up service. The credential suits service desk and incident managers, service owners, sourcing specialists and consultants working in complex service ecosystems. Whether you are formalising a service integrator role, stepping up from a single-tower ITSM position, or supporting a bank, telecom or public sector body that relies on many vendors, the training builds capability that maps to real Canadian roles.

If you want an entry-level, internationally recognised qualification in service integration, SIAM Foundation is a clear first step. You gain the vocabulary, structures and process knowledge that employers value, plus a lifetime EXIN credential and a supported path to the exam.

It gives PMOs, service management functions and sourcing groups a consistent framework for end-to-end service delivery. For Canadian organisations juggling cloud providers, managed service providers and legacy vendors, the training creates a common approach to integration, performance and risk across the supplier landscape.

The Market Forces Making SIAM Skills Essential in Canada

    Multi-Supplier Sprawl in Financial Services

Canadian banks and insurers run dozens of IT suppliers across cloud, security and operations. Without a service integrator layer, accountability blurs, the exact gap SIAM is built to close.

    SIAM builds end-to-end governance skills

    Public Sector Consolidation Pressure

Shared Services Canada and provincial bodies coordinate many providers under one mandate. Portfolio-grade integration and governance are exactly what these programmes now require.

SIAM builds coordination and oversight skills

    Compliance and Data Residency Demands

PIPEDA and Quebec Law 25 raise the bar on supplier oversight and accountability. Organisations need structured assurance across providers, a core SIAM practice.

SIAM builds assurance and governance skills

    ITIL-Deep but SIAM-Scarce Talent

Canada's ITSM pool is strong on ITIL but thin on multi-supplier integration. SIAM Foundation credentials make holders stand out for service integrator and vendor governance roles.

SIAM makes certified integrators stand out

Cloud and MSP Growth Multiplying Vendors

Rising cloud adoption and reliance on managed service providers increase the number of vendors per organisation, demanding integrated tooling, data and end-to-end coordination.

SIAM builds tooling and integration skills

    End-To-End Accountability Gaps

When incidents span several providers, blame-shifting slows resolution and erodes trust. SIAM's service integrator model restores clear, end-to-end ownership of the service.

EXIN SIAM Foundation is the entry-level certification in the EXIN SIAM scheme, validating your knowledge of Service Integration and Management. It covers the concepts, structures, roles, processes and governance of managing multiple service providers as one end-to-end service in multi-supplier environments.

SIAM is a management methodology for environments where several providers deliver IT services to one customer organisation. It introduces a service integrator layer that coordinates providers end to end. It matters in Canada because banks, telecoms and government bodies increasingly run large, multi-vendor IT ecosystems that need this governance.

SIAM Foundation suits IT service management professionals working in or with multi-supplier environments, including service desk and incident managers, service owners, process managers, sourcing and procurement specialists, and consultants. It is also valuable for ITIL holders wanting to extend their knowledge into service integration.

No. EXIN SIAM Foundation has no formal prerequisites and is open to all. Familiarity with basic ITSM concepts, such as from ITIL Foundation, is beneficial but not required, so beginners in service integration can start here confidently.

Yes. EXIN is an internationally recognised examination body operating in over 165 countries, and its SIAM credentials are valued by employers worldwide, including Canadian organisations that manage complex multi-supplier IT service ecosystems across banking, telecom and the public sector.

The SIAM Foundation certification is valid for lifetime. It does not expire, and there is no renewal, re-examination or continuing education requirement once you have passed the exam.

    Pricing

How much does SIAM Foundation training cost in Canada?

SIAM Foundation training in Canada is quoted based on your chosen format and whether the EXIN exam is bundled, so pricing is available on request. Live online, classroom and corporate options are priced separately. Talk to a learning advisor for a quote that fits your needs.

What is included in the SIAM Foundation course fee?

    Exam

What is the format of the EXIN SIAM Foundation exam?

The exam is closed book with 40 single-answer multiple-choice questions to complete in 60 minutes. It can be taken online through EXIN's proctored system or at an accredited testing location, usually arranged through your training provider.

What is the passing score for the SIAM Foundation exam?

The passing score is 65 per cent, so you must answer at least 26 of the 40 questions correctly. Our practice questions and mock exams are built to help you reach that mark with confidence.

Which standard is the SIAM Foundation exam based on?

The exam is based on the EXIN SIAM Foundation Examination Specification, which aligns to the SIAM Body of Knowledge (SIAM BoK) published by Scopism. Our courseware follows this current standard so your preparation matches what the exam tests.

How many topic areas does the exam cover?

The exam covers seven topic areas: Introduction to SIAM, the SIAM Implementation Roadmap, Roles and Responsibilities, SIAM Practices, Processes to Support SIAM, Challenges and Risks, and SIAM and Other Practices. Processes carry the largest weight at around 20 per cent.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

Our preparation is built around a first-time pass, with mock exams and trainer support to close any gaps beforehand. If a re-sit is needed, EXIN's re-examination policy applies through your provider, and we will guide you on rebooking. Ask a learning advisor about retake options.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the SIAM Foundation course?

You will learn the SIAM ecosystem and three-layer model, service integrator sourcing options, the implementation roadmap, roles and governance, cross-provider processes, SIAM practices and tooling, and how SIAM aligns with ITIL, COBIT, ISO/IEC 20000, Agile, DevOps and Lean.

Do I need ITIL before taking SIAM Foundation?

No, ITIL is not required. SIAM Foundation is beginner friendly and has no prerequisites. That said, an ITIL Foundation or general ITSM background makes the material easier to absorb, since SIAM builds a governance layer on top of familiar service management processes.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams mapped to the 40-question, 60-minute EXIN format, plus topic-wise checks so you can identify weak areas and build exam readiness before the real test.

Is the courseware aligned to the current SIAM standard?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the EXIN SIAM Foundation Examination Specification and the SIAM Body of Knowledge published by Scopism, so what you study reflects the current framework the exam is drawn from.

How is the training delivered and how long is it?

SIAM Foundation training is a 16-hour programme, typically delivered over two days by accredited trainers. You can choose online (live virtual) instructor-led sessions, classroom training, or customised corporate delivery for your team.
