What Is Design for Six Sigma Training?UntitledYour Route to First-Time Design Quality

The Design for Six Sigma Training in Canada is a practical, non-certification skills programme that shows you how to design new products, services and processes that meet customer needs and reach Six Sigma quality from the very start. Unlike DMAIC, which improves processes that already exist, Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) builds quality in long before the first prototype is made. Delivered over one intensive day (8 hours), the training follows the DMADV roadmap, Define, Measure, Analyse, Design and Verify, and puts the core design tools into your hands: voice of the customer, CTQ flow-down, Quality Function Deployment, the Pugh matrix, Design FMEA and robust design. It suits design and R&D engineers, quality professionals and new product development teams across Canada's manufacturing, aerospace, automotive and medical device sectors. You leave able to apply DFSS on live projects, and receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning.

What Design for Six Sigma Skills DeliverValue You Bring to Every New Design

    For Individuals

    For Individuals

Design for Six Sigma training gives engineers and quality professionals the structured methods to design quality into new products, rather than inspecting or improving it in later. You learn to capture what customers truly value and translate it into design requirements that hold up in the real world. Whether you work in product design, R&D, quality or manufacturing, the DMADV roadmap and its tools help you reduce iterations, improve reliability and get new designs to launch with higher first-pass quality.

If you want practical, immediately usable capability that Canadian manufacturers value, DFSS is a fast route to it. In a single day you gain the design-quality tools that engineering training rarely covers, ready to use on your next project.

    • Design new products and processes right the first time using the DMADV roadmap
    • Turn customer needs into measurable CTQs that guide every design decision
    • Cut costly late-stage redesigns, recalls and warranty claims
    • Add QFD, Pugh selection, DFMEA and robust design to your engineering toolkit
    • Stand out to aerospace, automotive and medical device employers in Canada
    • Bridge the gap between DMAIC improvement and true design-stage quality
    • Apply the tools on live projects immediately, with no exam to sit
    For Organizations

    For Organizations

Group Design for Six Sigma training helps organisations embed a proactive, prevention-led approach to quality across their product development teams. When engineers, quality and R&D staff share the same DMADV methodology, design decisions become faster, more objective and more defensible. For manufacturers, aerospace suppliers and medical device makers, the training provides a scalable way to close design-quality gaps and improve the reliability of what leaves the door.

If your teams keep fixing the same design-driven defects after launch, DFSS group training changes the pattern. Senior and hands-on engineers gain a common toolkit for VOC, QFD, DFMEA and robust design that lifts first-pass quality across the portfolio.

    • Build a shared design-quality language across engineering and quality teams
    • Prevent defects at the design stage instead of fixing them after launch
    • Shorten new product introduction and reduce rework and warranty cost
    • Strengthen APQP, ISO 13485 and design-control compliance readiness
    • Standardise DMADV, QFD and DFMEA practice across product lines
    • Upskill whole teams through flexible onsite or live virtual delivery
    • Apply the tools to your own live design projects during training

Where DFSS Takes You in CanadaRoles and Demand in Design-Led Sectors

Why Canadian Employers Need Design-First Quality Skills

    Design-Stage Quality Gap

Too many Canadian products are fixed after launch through costly recalls and rework. DFSS closes the gap by designing quality in before the first build.

    DFSS builds design-quality skills

    Aerospace Design Rigour

Aerospace primes and suppliers need engineers who can prove a design meets requirements before flight. DFSS tools like DFMEA and design verification deliver that.

DFSS builds DFMEA and verification skills

    Automotive APQP Demands

Tier 1 and Tier 2 auto suppliers must meet OEM APQP and DFMEA requirements. Teams fluent in Design for Six Sigma tools win and keep that work.

    DFSS builds robust design skills

    Medical Device Compliance

Health Canada and ISO 13485 make design controls, DFMEA and design verification mandatory. DFSS gives medical device teams a structured way to meet them.

    DFSS builds design-control skills

    Design-Quality Skills Shortage

Canada has plenty of DMAIC-trained improvers but few engineers who can design to Six Sigma quality. DFSS-skilled professionals stand out to employers.

Select Concepts with the Pugh Matrix

Generate multiple design concepts and compare them objectively against a datum using the Pugh selection matrix, combining strengths into a stronger hybrid concept without the loudest voice deciding.

    Run a Design FMEA

Complete a Design FMEA worksheet, score severity, occurrence and detection to calculate the RPN, and prioritise the design actions that remove the biggest failure risks before they reach production.

    Design for Robustness and Verify

Apply P-diagram thinking, Taguchi robust design and tolerancing so your design holds its target despite real-world variation, then plan verification and validation before transfer to production.
