    Downstream Diversification

Bahrain is expanding downstream aluminium, petrochemicals and pharmaceuticals. Each new product line needs quality designed in early, where DFSS prevents costly defects rather than fixing them later.

DFSS prevents defects DMAIC later fixes

    Cost and Warranty Pressure

Margin and capital discipline across industrial firms push teams to cut scrap, rework and warranty claims. Robust design and Design FMEA reduce failure costs before a product ever ships.

Robust design and DFMEA cut failure costs

    Design and Quality Talent Gap

Bahrain's manufacturing base is growing faster than its pool of design and quality specialists. Professionals who can run VOC, QFD and DFMEA are scarce and sought after.

DFSS makes design-quality talent stand out

    ISO and Design Controls

Wider ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 adoption raises the bar on design and development controls. DFSS gives teams the structured tools to evidence quality by design.

Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) training is a 1-day, non-certification skills course that teaches you to design new products, services and processes to Six Sigma quality levels from the outset. It covers the DMADV roadmap and core tools such as VOC, QFD, Design FMEA and robust design.

    General

What is Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) training?

Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) training is a 1-day, non-certification skills course that teaches you to design new products, services and processes to Six Sigma quality levels from the outset. It covers the DMADV roadmap and core tools such as VOC, QFD, Design FMEA and robust design.

Who should attend this DFSS course in Bahrain?

It suits product and design engineers, R&D professionals, NPD managers, quality engineers, manufacturing engineers and Six Sigma Green and Black Belts. Anyone in Bahrain who designs new products or processes, or wants to add design skills to their DMAIC experience, will benefit.

Is Design for Six Sigma worth it?

Yes. DFSS lets you prevent defects by designing quality in, rather than fixing them after launch. As Bahrain's manufacturers push toward international standards and smart factories, professionals who can run DMADV and design reliability in are increasingly valued.

What is the difference between DFSS and DMAIC?

DMAIC improves existing processes that are underperforming. DFSS, using the DMADV roadmap, designs new products, services or processes so they meet requirements from the start. This course covers DFSS, and organisations typically use both approaches together.

Do I need prior Six Sigma knowledge to attend?

No. There are no formal prerequisites. Familiarity with basic Six Sigma concepts such as CTQ and variation is helpful but not required. The course introduces the DMADV methodology and all DFSS tools from first principles.

Which methodology is the DFSS course based on?

The course is grounded in the established Design for Six Sigma body of practice, using the widely adopted DMADV roadmap (Define, Measure, Analyse, Design, Verify) alongside recognised tools such as QFD, the Pugh matrix, Design FMEA and robust design.

Is there any exam or awarding-body fee?

No. This is a non-certification course with no examination, so there is no separate exam or awarding-body fee. You pay only the training fee for your selected format.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you, and request a quote to get started.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for Design for Six Sigma training?

No. DFSS training is a non-certification course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on tool exercises, worked case studies and team discussion during the 1-day programme.

Do I receive a certificate after the course?

Yes. You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning after completing the 1-day programme. This is a record of attendance and learning, not a formal credential from an awarding body.

How is my learning assessed during the training?

There is no formal assessment. You apply the DFSS tools, such as VOC to CTQ flow-down, QFD, the Pugh matrix and Design FMEA, to realistic design scenarios throughout the day, so you practise each tool as you learn it.

Will this course make me a Six Sigma belt holder?

No. DFSS training builds practical design skills but does not award a Six Sigma belt or formal credential. It is an ideal complement to Green Belt or Black Belt learning and to your existing DMAIC experience.

Are the DFSS skills recognised by employers?

Yes. DFSS methodology and tools such as DMADV, QFD and Design FMEA are widely recognised in quality and product-development practice, and are directly applicable to new product introduction across Bahrain's manufacturing and industrial sectors.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the DFSS course?

You will learn to run the DMADV roadmap and apply core DFSS tools: capturing Voice of the Customer, translating needs into CTQs, building a QFD House of Quality, selecting concepts with the Pugh matrix, conducting Design FMEA, and applying robust design and verification.

What topics are covered in the training?

The programme covers DFSS versus DMAIC, the Define phase (VOC, Kano, charter), Measure (CTQ flow-down, QFD), Analyse (concept selection, Design FMEA), Design (robust design, P-diagram, DFMA) and Verify (verification, validation, design scorecard, design transfer).

    Are there hands-on exercises?

Yes. Hands-on exercises run throughout the day. You apply VOC to CTQ flow-down, build a House of Quality, use a Pugh matrix and complete a Design FMEA worksheet on realistic product and process design scenarios.

How long is the Design for Six Sigma course?

The course is delivered in 1 day (8 hours), covering all six DMADV phases with concept explanations, real-world design examples and tool exercises. A half-day format spread across 2 days is also available.

Is DFSS relevant to services, not just products?

Yes. While DFSS is widely used in manufacturing, the DMADV roadmap and tools apply equally to designing new services and processes, from financial services to healthcare and government service delivery.
