Industry Challenges Driving COBIT 5 Demand in Bahrain

    Regulatory and Governance Pressure

Central Bank of Bahrain expectations on IT risk, resilience and controls push banks and insurers to mature governance, the exact gap the COBIT 5 implementation lifecycle is built to close.

COBIT 5 Implementation builds governance business-case skills

    FinTech Growth and Digital Risk

As Bahrain cements its position as a GCC FinTech hub, fast-scaling firms need governance that keeps pace with digital risk without slowing innovation, a balance COBIT 5 helps leaders strike.

COBIT 5 Implementation builds risk and prioritisation skills

    Strategy-To-Delivery Disconnect

Boards fund transformation, but weak links between strategy and IT execution cause value leakage. The goals cascade and seven-phase lifecycle connect governance decisions back to enterprise objectives.

COBIT 5 Implementation links IT to enterprise goals

    Governance Talent Scarcity

Bahrain has a deep IT delivery pool but far fewer professionals credentialed to lead governance improvement. The intermediate COBIT 5 Implementation level makes holders visible to employers.

COBIT 5 Implementation makes certified leaders stand out

    Change Adoption Failure

Governance frameworks fail on adoption, not design. The COBIT 5 change enablement cycle equips leaders to manage awareness, desire, knowledge, ability and reinforcement across the organisation.

COBIT 5 Implementation builds change enablement skill

    Audit and Remediation Backlogs

Recurring audit findings signal governance gaps that one-off fixes never close. Continuous improvement embeds COBIT 5 practices so remediation becomes sustained capability, not a repeated scramble.

    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Implementation exam?

It is an open-book, objective-testing exam of 4 questions, each worth 20 marks (80 marks total). Only the COBIT 5 Implementation book and the COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide are permitted. Questions require scenario-based analysis, not simple lookup.

How long is the COBIT 5 Implementation exam?

You have 2.5 hours (150 minutes) to complete the four questions. The exam is delivered online proctored through PeopleCert OnVUE or at a PeopleCert authorised test centre.

What is the passing score for the COBIT 5 Implementation exam?

The pass mark is 50%: you must achieve 40 marks or more out of the 80 available. Because it is open book, both efficient book navigation and genuine method knowledge are needed.

Which books can I use during the exam?

Only two: the COBIT 5 Implementation book and the COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide. No other materials are permitted. Our training includes technique for navigating both efficiently under timed conditions.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can re-sit the COBIT 5 Implementation exam; specific re-sit fees and policy are set by PeopleCert and available on request. Our mock exams and first-attempt guidance are designed to help you pass the first time.

    Course Content

What topics does the COBIT 5 Implementation training cover?

Four topic areas: the need for a governance framework and the seven-phase implementation lifecycle; change enablement; programme management; and continuous improvement. Each is examined as one 20-mark question in the exam.

What are the seven phases of the COBIT 5 implementation lifecycle?

Phase 1: What are the drivers? Phase 2: Where are we now? Phase 3: Where do we want to be? Phase 4: What needs to be done? Phase 5: How do we get there? Phase 6: Did we get there? Phase 7: How do we keep the momentum going? It is a continuous cycle, not a one-off project.

Do I need prior experience to take this course?

You need COBIT 5 Foundation certification, since Implementation builds on it. Beyond that, no formal work experience is mandated, though the level suits practitioners who lead or support governance improvement. Foundation concepts are assumed and not re-taught.

How long is the COBIT 5 Implementation training?

The programme runs 16 hours, typically delivered as two full days or four half-days. It covers all four topic areas at application level and prepares you for the open-book exam.

Is the courseware aligned to the current syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus, 2022 version, based on the COBIT 5 framework. COBIT 2019 is the current COBIT edition, but the COBIT 5 Implementation credential remains widely recognised.
