What Is the COBIT 5 Assessor Certification?UntitledYour Route to Specialist Assessor Status

The COBIT 5 Assessor (COBIT 5-A) certification is the highest level of the COBIT 5 qualification scheme, validating your ability to plan, conduct, rate and report formal process capability assessments using the COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model (PAM). COBIT 5 Assessor certification training in Bahrain prepares IT governance and audit professionals to run structured, evidence-based assessments aligned to ISO/IEC 15504. Built on the COBIT 5 Assessor Exam Syllabus (2024 version), the programme covers the six capability levels, the nine process attributes and the four-point rating scale, then applies them in realistic assessment scenarios at application and analysis level. COBIT 5 Foundation and Implementation knowledge is assumed, so the 16-hour course concentrates on specialist assessment technique rather than framework basics. Delivered in live virtual and corporate formats across Manama and the wider Kingdom, the training suits IT auditors, GRC specialists and governance managers in Bahrain's banking, government and telecom sectors. You prepare for the open-book Assessor exam, delivered by PeopleCert, with guided practice, mock questions and expert instruction. Begin your COBIT 5 Assessor journey with Invensis Learning.

What Is Fuelling Demand for COBIT 5 Assessors in Bahrain

    Cloud Governance Lagging Adoption

Bahrain hosts more than 85% of government workloads in the cloud, but governance discipline has not kept pace, leaving cost, security and data-sovereignty gaps that formal COBIT 5 assessments help close.

COBIT 5 Assessor builds evidence-based capability assessment skills

    Tightening Central Bank Regulation

The Central Bank of Bahrain's open banking, crypto and stablecoin frameworks demand evidence-based IT control assurance, exactly what a formal COBIT 5 process capability assessment provides.

COBIT 5 Assessor builds assurance and rating skills

    Scarce Certified Assessor Talent

Bahrain has many IT auditors but few professionals qualified to run ISO/IEC 15504-aligned COBIT 5 assessments, making the Assessor credential rare and sought-after by employers.

COBIT 5 Assessor makes certified assessors stand out

    RegTech and Data-Sovereignty Demands

Accelerating RegTech adoption and data-residency rules push banks and fintechs to prove governance maturity, raising demand for structured, repeatable and defensible process assessments.

COBIT 5 Assessor builds repeatable assessment skills

    Vision 2030 Diversification Risk

As Bahrain diversifies beyond oil under Economic Vision 2030, boards need credible IT governance assurance to keep expanding digital portfolios on strategy and under control.

    Your Bahrain Career Transformation

Your Before and After with COBIT 5 Assessor

The Career Shift This Credential Delivers

Bahrain's digital economy is expanding with cloud-first government, fintech growth and Central Bank regulation, and employers increasingly separate certified assessors from general IT auditors. Here is which side of that line you want to be on.

    Today

Pay capped with limited leverage to negotiate in the Bahraini market

    After COBIT 5-A

IT governance manager roles in Bahrain average around BHD 36,000, with head of IT audit reaching far higher

    Today

Shortlisted less often for roles that list a COBIT assessor credential as preferred

    After COBIT 5-A

Eligible for senior assurance roles across banking, government, telecom and audit firms

    Today

Confident in audit, but employers want formal capability assessment skill

    After COBIT 5-A

Fluent in the PAM, the six capability levels and evidence-based rating and reporting

You earn your COBIT 5 Assessor

    Before

IT audit standing that rests on experience, not a specialist assessment credential

    Now you have

A globally recognised COBIT 5 credential trusted by Bahraini and international employers

    Before

Stuck at IT auditor level with no formal assessor mandate

    Now you have

A clear route into IT governance manager and head of IT audit roles

    Before

Audit focused, with limited authority to rate process capability formally

    Now you have

The skills employers need: PAM assessment, capability rating and evidence-based reporting

    Before

Recognition that fades when you change sector or employer

    Now you have

An ISO/IEC 15504-aligned credential that travels across sectors and the GCC

"The gap between auditing IT and formally assessing its capability is increasingly a recognised credential, and the organisations that matter already know it."

    General

What is the COBIT 5 Assessor certification and who is it for?

It is designed for IT auditors, GRC specialists, IT governance consultants and governance managers.

Is the COBIT 5 Assessor certification worth it in Bahrain?

Yes. As Bahrain's cloud-first agenda and Central Bank frameworks raise assurance expectations, certified assessors are in demand across banking, government and telecom. The credential supports progression into IT governance manager and head of IT audit roles, which command strong salary bands in the Kingdom.

Which standard and syllabus does the certification follow?

The certification is based on the COBIT 5 framework and the COBIT 5 Assessor Exam Syllabus (2024 version), delivered by PeopleCert. Assessments use the COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model, which is aligned to ISO/IEC 15504, giving results international credibility and comparability.

What are the prerequisites for COBIT 5 Assessor?

COBIT 5 Foundation certification is required before you sit the Assessor exam. COBIT 5 Implementation is recommended, as the Assessor exam assumes both Foundation and Implementation knowledge. Practical IT audit or governance experience is strongly advised.

How is COBIT 5 Assessor recognised internationally?

    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Assessor exam?

The exam is open book, with only the COBIT 5 Assessor Guide: Using COBIT 5 and the COBIT Process Assessment Model permitted. It uses objective, scenario-based questions that require professional judgement at application and analysis level, delivered by PeopleCert.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The Assessor exam has 8 questions, each worth 10 marks, for 80 marks in total, and you have 2 and a half hours (150 minutes) to complete it. All 8 questions are scored.

What is the passing score for the COBIT 5 Assessor exam?

The pass mark is 50%, so you need 40 marks or more out of the 80 available. Ratings and answers must be grounded in the PAM, so efficient navigation of the permitted open-book materials is essential.

How and where do I take the exam?

You can sit the exam through PeopleCert, either via OnVUE online proctoring, available around the clock, or at an authorised test centre. This lets candidates in Manama and across Bahrain schedule the exam flexibly.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can re-sit the exam through PeopleCert; re-sit policy and fees are confirmed at the time of booking. Our exam-focused practice and open-book technique sessions are designed to help you prepare thoroughly for a first-time pass.

    Course Content

What topics does the COBIT 5 Assessor training cover?

Do I need COBIT 5 Foundation before this course?

The instructor-led programme runs for 16 hours in total, typically delivered as two full days or four half-days depending on the schedule. It prepares you for the 8-question, 2 and a half hour open-book Assessor exam.
