Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management. It recognises your ability to identify, analyse, respond to and monitor project risks. It is designed for risk managers, senior project managers, PMO analysts and risk consultants who specialise in managing uncertainty on projects and programmes.

    General

What is the PMI-RMP certification and who is it for?

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management. It recognises your ability to identify, analyse, respond to and monitor project risks. It is designed for risk managers, senior project managers, PMO analysts and risk consultants who specialise in managing uncertainty on projects and programmes.

Is the PMI-RMP worth it for professionals in Sofia?

Yes. Project risk manager roles in Sofia average around EUR 42,500 a year, and demand is rising with the euro transition, EU digital-resilience rules and fintech growth. As a specialist PMI credential, the PMI-RMP helps you stand out in banking, fintech, IT and engineering. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your route.

Is the PMP required before taking the PMI-RMP?

No. The PMP is not a prerequisite for the PMI-RMP. You can apply directly based on your risk management experience and education. Many PMI-RMP holders also hold the PMP, as the two credentials are complementary, but you do not need one to earn the other.

Is the PMI-RMP recognised in Bulgaria?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the PMI-RMP is recognised by employers in Bulgaria and worldwide. It is particularly valued in Sofia's banking, fintech, IT services and engineering sectors, where formal project risk management is increasingly required by governance and EU compliance frameworks.

How long is the PMI-RMP valid and how is it renewed?

The PMI-RMP is valid for three years. To keep it active, you earn 30 professional development units (PDUs) in risk management topics within each three-year cycle and pay the renewal fee through PMI's continuing certification requirements system.

    Pricing

What is included in the PMI-RMP course fee in Sofia?

The training fee typically includes 32 contact hours of instruction, PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams and application guidance. Fees are quoted in euros following Bulgaria's 2026 adoption. Request a quote for current pricing and upcoming batches.

How much does the PMI-RMP exam cost?

PMI bills the exam fee separately in USD, for reference around USD 520 for PMI members and USD 670 for non-members; verify current figures at pmi.org. PMI membership can reduce the exam fee and gives free access to the Practice Standard for Project Risk Management.

Do you offer corporate or group discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for PMOs, delivery units and risk teams. Contact us for a tailored group quote for your organisation.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you best.

Are training fees quoted in euros now?

Yes. Bulgaria adopted the euro on 1 January 2026, and the euro has been the sole legal currency since 1 February 2026, so local training is quoted in euros. The PMI exam fee remains billed in USD under PMI's regional pricing.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-RMP exam?

The PMI-RMP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions, including single-answer and multiple-answer formats. It is based on the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022 and delivered online via Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 115 questions and a time limit of 2.5 hours (150 minutes). Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement.

What are the five PMI-RMP exam domains and their weights?

The 2022 ECO defines five domains: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%). The training covers all five in depth.

What is the passing score for the PMI-RMP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score and does not publish a fixed percentage. Your result is reported as pass or fail with performance feedback by domain, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains rather than a single target number.

What happens if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You are allowed up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility period from application approval. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our mock exams and practice questions are designed to help you pass with confidence.

    Course Content

What topics does the PMI-RMP training cover?

The training covers all five domains: Risk Strategy and Planning, Risk Identification, Risk Analysis, Risk Response, and Monitor and Close Risks. You practise qualitative and quantitative tools such as the probability and impact matrix, Monte Carlo simulation, decision trees and reserve analysis.

Does this training meet the PMI-RMP education requirement?

The programme provides 32 contact hours, which fully meets the 30-hour risk education requirement for Set B (bachelor's degree) and Set C (GAC-accredited degree) candidates. Set A candidates need 40 hours and should add at least 8 further hours of risk education.

Can a first-time applicant or beginner take this course?

Yes. Anyone can attend the training. To sit the exam, PMI requires project risk management experience plus risk education under Set A, B or C. We guide you on documenting your experience so first-time applicants can prepare with confidence.

Which standard and edition is the courseware aligned to?

The courseware is aligned to the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022, the PMI Practice Standard for Project Risk Management and the PMBOK Guide, so you study exactly what the current exam evaluates.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams mapped to the 115-question format, plus topic-wise quizzes. These help you identify weak areas across the domains and build readiness for scenario-based questions.

How soon can I start and how do I enrol?

What are the eligibility requirements to sit the exam?

We offer instructor-led online (live virtual) training, classroom sessions, self-paced e-learning and customised corporate group training. You can choose the format that best fits your schedule and learning style.
