What Is Quality Function Deployment?UntitledA Customer-Driven Design Method

Quality Function Deployment training in Argentina teaches you to turn what customers actually want into clear, measurable design and engineering decisions. Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is a structured, customer-driven planning method, developed in Japan by Yoji Akao and Shigeru Mizuno and first applied at the Kobe Shipyard in 1972, that uses the House of Quality matrix to translate customer requirements into product and process characteristics. This one-day, practical programme is built for product designers, quality engineers, product managers, R&D professionals and Six Sigma practitioners who want to move from intuition-based design to a method that keeps every decision traceable to a real customer need. You capture the Voice of the Customer, build the House of Quality step by step, prioritise design trade-offs, and cascade QFD through product planning, parts deployment, process planning and production control. QFD is used across automotive, aerospace, food, pharmaceutical, electronics and service design, so the skills apply wherever customer requirements must become design specifications. Start building a capability Argentine employers value with Invensis Learning.

Quality Function Deployment is a structured, customer-driven planning method that translates the Voice of the Customer into measurable design and engineering characteristics. Developed in Japan by Yoji Akao and Shigeru Mizuno and first applied at the Kobe Shipyard in 1972, it uses the House of Quality matrix to keep every design decision anchored to real customer needs.

The training suits product designers, design and quality engineers, product managers, marketing and R&D professionals, and Six Sigma Green and Black Belts. Anyone who needs to translate customer requirements into product, process or service specifications will benefit, regardless of prior QFD knowledge.

Yes. Argentina's automotive, food, pharmaceutical and electronics sectors all compete on customer-driven quality, so professionals who can capture the Voice of the Customer and design quality in are in demand. The skills apply immediately to product development, improvement and quality-planning work.

No prior experience is required. The programme introduces QFD and the House of Quality from first principles. Familiarity with product development or quality management is helpful but not needed, as all concepts and tools are taught step by step.

The House of Quality is the central QFD matrix, named for its house-like shape. It links customer requirements to engineering characteristics, scores each relationship, benchmarks against competitors, uses a correlation roof to reveal design conflicts, and sets measurable engineering targets.

    General

What is Quality Function Deployment (QFD)?

Quality Function Deployment is a structured, customer-driven planning method that translates the Voice of the Customer into measurable design and engineering characteristics. Developed in Japan by Yoji Akao and Shigeru Mizuno and first applied at the Kobe Shipyard in 1972, it uses the House of Quality matrix to keep every design decision anchored to real customer needs.

Who should attend the QFD training?

The training suits product designers, design and quality engineers, product managers, marketing and R&D professionals, and Six Sigma Green and Black Belts. Anyone who needs to translate customer requirements into product, process or service specifications will benefit, regardless of prior QFD knowledge.

Is QFD training worth it for professionals in Argentina?

Yes. Argentina's automotive, food, pharmaceutical and electronics sectors all compete on customer-driven quality, so professionals who can capture the Voice of the Customer and design quality in are in demand. The skills apply immediately to product development, improvement and quality-planning work.

Do I need prior experience to take this course?

No prior experience is required. The programme introduces QFD and the House of Quality from first principles. Familiarity with product development or quality management is helpful but not needed, as all concepts and tools are taught step by step.

What is the House of Quality?

The House of Quality is the central QFD matrix, named for its house-like shape. It links customer requirements to engineering characteristics, scores each relationship, benchmarks against competitors, uses a correlation roof to reveal design conflicts, and sets measurable engineering targets.

    Pricing

How much does QFD training cost in Argentina?

Pricing varies by delivery format (live virtual, classroom or onsite) and by group size, so the fee is available on request. Contact a learning advisor for current pricing and upcoming schedules, or to arrange a tailored quote for your team.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee covers instructor-led training across all six QFD modules, hands-on House of Quality exercises, course materials and learner support, and a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. Ask about the exact inclusions for your chosen format when you request a quote.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with schedules and content tailored to your team, and volume-based pricing for product, quality and engineering groups. Contact us for a group quote for your organisation in Argentina.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with options that vary by region and enrolment type. Speak with a learning advisor to confirm the payment methods available for your booking.

Is there a discount for team enrolments?

    Assessment

Is there an exam for the QFD training?

No. QFD training is a non-certification skills course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on House of Quality construction, case study examples and team discussion during the one-day programme.

Do I receive a certificate after the course?

Yes. On completing the programme you receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. This is a record of attendance and learning, not a formal external credential, as QFD training has no awarding body or certification exam.

How is learning assessed during the training?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, learning is applied through hands-on exercises that run throughout the day, including Voice of the Customer structuring, Kano classification and building a full House of Quality from a realistic scenario.

    Is QFD an accredited certification?

No. QFD is a practical skills training course, not an accredited certification. There is no governing body or exam. The value comes from the tools and methods you can use immediately at work, and you receive a completion certificate from Invensis Learning.

Will I be able to apply QFD immediately at work?

Yes. The course is designed for immediate application. By the end you can facilitate a Voice of the Customer workshop, build and interpret a House of Quality, and cascade requirements into parts, process and production planning on your own projects.

    Course Content

What topics does the QFD course cover?

The course covers QFD principles and origins, capturing and structuring the Voice of the Customer, building the House of Quality step by step, interpreting the matrix for design priorities, cascading QFD through four phases, and applying QFD in DFSS, DMAIC and service design.

How long is the QFD training?

The programme runs for one day (8 hours), covering all six QFD modules with concept explanations, real-world case examples and hands-on House of Quality exercises throughout. An extended two half-day format covering the same content is also available.

Does the course include hands-on practice?

Yes. Hands-on exercises run throughout the day. You structure customer needs with an affinity diagram, classify them with the Kano model, build a complete House of Quality from a realistic product or service scenario, and identify design hot spots and conflicts.

Is the training relevant to services as well as manufacturing?

Yes. While QFD began in manufacturing, the course covers applications in services such as healthcare, financial services and IT, plus software development. The House of Quality applies wherever customer requirements must become design or delivery specifications.

Which standards and methods underpin the course?

The course is grounded in the established QFD body of knowledge, including the four-phase QFD model and the House of Quality developed by Yoji Akao and Shigeru Mizuno. It also shows how QFD sits within Design for Six Sigma, DMAIC and ISO 9001 customer-focus expectations.

How do I enrol in the QFD course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, confirm your place, and you will receive access to schedules, course materials and learning resources. A learning advisor can help you pick the right session.

    What delivery formats are available?

The training is available online (live virtual instructor-led), in the classroom, and as onsite or corporate group delivery. Choose the format that fits your schedule and, for teams, your organisation's location in Argentina.
