What is the format of the PMI-ACP exam?

The PMI-ACP exam is a closed-book, proctored exam with multiple-choice questions distributed across the seven agile domains of the Examination Content Outline. It is delivered online via Pearson VUE OnVUE or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of three hours. Questions are spread across the seven domains, from Agile Principles and Mindset to Continuous Improvement.

Which standard is the PMI-ACP exam based on?

The exam is based on the PMI-ACP Examination Content Outline (ECO), published January 2018, and draws on a broad set of agile references, including the Agile Practice Guide. Our courseware is aligned to this current outline.

What is the passing score for the PMI-ACP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback, so aim for broad mastery across all seven domains.

What happens if I do not pass, can I retake it?

What will I learn in the PMI-ACP training?

You will learn to apply agile across all seven ECO domains, covering agile principles and mindset, value-driven delivery, stakeholder engagement, team performance, adaptive planning, problem detection and resolution, and continuous improvement, using Scrum, Kanban, Lean, XP and TDD.

Do I need prior experience to take the training?

Anyone can attend the training. To sit the exam, PMI requires agile project experience and general project experience alongside the training; the course itself is practical and beginner-friendly for those newer to multi-framework agile.

Does the training meet the 21 contact-hour requirement?

Yes. The programme provides 24 contact hours of agile education, which exceeds and fully satisfies PMI's mandatory 21 contact-hour training prerequisite for the PMI-ACP.

What learning materials are included?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the PMI-ACP Examination Content Outline and Handbook, practice questions, mock exams, and quizzes to reinforce each domain and build exam readiness.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest PMI-ACP outline?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-ACP Examination Content Outline effective January 2018, the outline PMI still uses for the exam, so your preparation matches what is actually tested.

PMI requires a secondary degree, 2,000 hours of general project experience within the last five years, 1,500 hours of agile project experience within the last three years, and 21 contact hours of agile training. PMP or PgMP holders already meet the general project experience requirement.
