Risk Challenges Fuelling PMI-RMP Demand in Tanzania

PMI-RMP builds structured risk analysis skills

    Energy and Gas Uncertainty

    PMI-RMP builds risk response skills

    Infrastructure Financing Risk

Capital projects like the SGR expansion, backed by USD 2.33 billion in financing, expose teams to schedule, cost and contractual risk that formal frameworks are built to manage.

PMI-RMP builds risk strategy and planning skills

    Scarce Certified Risk Talent

Tanzania's project pool is deep in project managers but thin in credentialed risk specialists, making PMI-RMP holders rare and sought-after by leading employers.

PMI-RMP makes certified risk leaders stand out

    Climate and Regulatory Pressure

Climate shocks affecting agriculture and tightening compliance expectations push organisations to embed structured risk monitoring across their programmes.

    PMI-RMP builds risk monitoring skills

    Banking and Financial Risk Discipline

As CRDB, NMB and other banks expand, project and change programmes need disciplined risk governance to protect value and meet regulatory expectations.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

PMI-RMP is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management, recognising expertise in identifying, assessing and responding to project risk. It is designed for risk specialists, project managers and PMO analysts who focus on risk across projects and programmes, and it sets holders apart from general project management practitioners.

    General

What is the PMI-RMP certification and who is it for?

PMI-RMP is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management, recognising expertise in identifying, assessing and responding to project risk. It is designed for risk specialists, project managers and PMO analysts who focus on risk across projects and programmes, and it sets holders apart from general project management practitioners.

Is the PMI-RMP worth it for professionals in Dar es Salaam?

Yes. With Dar es Salaam anchoring the LNG programme, the Standard Gauge Railway and major energy and banking projects, certified risk professionals are in real demand. Risk managers in Tanzania earn around TSh 30 million a year on average, and the credential opens senior risk and PMO roles across high-uncertainty sectors.

Do I need a PMP before taking the PMI-RMP?

No. PMP is not a prerequisite for PMI-RMP. You can apply directly based on your risk management experience and education. Many professionals hold both, as the two credentials are complementary, but the PMI-RMP stands on its own as a specialist risk qualification.

How long is the PMI-RMP certification valid?

The PMI-RMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 30 PDUs in risk management topics within each three-year continuing certification requirements cycle and report them through PMI's CCR system.

How is the PMI-RMP different from the PMP?

PMP is a broad project management credential covering all knowledge areas, while PMI-RMP specialises entirely in project risk: strategy, identification, analysis, response and monitoring. The two are complementary, and many project managers add PMI-RMP to prove advanced risk expertise.

    Pricing

What is included in the PMI-RMP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, 32 contact hours, practice questions, mock exams aligned to the 115-question format, downloadable templates, application guidance and learner support with a course completion certificate. Request a quote to see the full inclusions for your batch.

How much does PMI-RMP training cost in Dar es Salaam?

Training fees vary by format and schedule, so pricing for Dar es Salaam is available on request. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI in USD and is not part of the training fee. Talk to a learning advisor for a tailored quote.

How much is the PMI-RMP exam fee?

PMI bills the PMI-RMP exam fee in USD, for reference around USD 520 for PMI members and USD 670 for non-members. Fees can vary by region, so confirm the current amounts at pmi.org. PMI membership also lowers renewal costs and gives access to the Practice Standard for Project Risk Management.

Do you offer corporate or group discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for PMOs, delivery teams and assurance functions across Tanzania. Contact us for a group quote for your team.

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What if I do not pass the PMI-RMP exam the first time?

You get up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period, so a first-time miss is not the end of the road. Our structured preparation, mock exams and domain-level practice are built to get you ready to pass, and reexamination fees apply only to later attempts.

How many questions are on the PMI-RMP exam and how long is it?

The PMI-RMP exam has 115 questions and a time limit of 2.5 hours (150 minutes). It is closed book and uses multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats.

What are the PMI-RMP exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers five domains from the January 2022 exam content outline: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%).

What is the passing score for the PMI-RMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark. The passing score is set through psychometric analysis, and results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement. Focus on broad mastery across all five domains.

Where can I sit the PMI-RMP exam in Tanzania?

You can take the exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctoring from home or office, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or the Pearson VUE website once your application is approved.

    Course Content

Can a beginner take PMI-RMP training?

You can join the training to build risk knowledge and earn contact hours, though the PMI-RMP exam itself requires risk management experience. The programme starts from core concepts and builds up to advanced analysis, so learners newer to formal risk work are well supported.

What topics does the PMI-RMP training cover?

The training covers all five domains: Risk Strategy and Planning, Risk Identification, Risk Analysis, Risk Response, and Monitor and Close Risks. It includes qualitative and quantitative tools such as the probability and impact matrix, Monte Carlo simulation, decision trees and expected monetary value, across predictive, agile and hybrid projects.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest ECO?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022, the PMI Practice Standard for Project Risk Management and the PMBOK Guide, so you prepare against exactly what the exam tests.

Does this training meet the PMI-RMP education requirement?

The programme provides 32 contact hours, which fully meets the 30-hour risk management education requirement for Set B and Set C applicants. Set A applicants (secondary diploma) need 40 hours and should add at least 8 further hours of risk training.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams aligned to the 115-question, closed-book format, plus topic-wise quizzes to help you find weak areas and build exam readiness.
