Why Observability Skills Are in Demand Across Qatar

    Monitoring Cannot Keep Up

As Qatar enterprises adopt microservices and containers, dashboard-only monitoring misses novel failures. Teams need observability to diagnose the unknown-unknowns that traditional alerts never predicted.

    OBSF builds three-pillar observability skills

    Cloud Migration at National Scale

TASMU and major providers run workloads on Azure, AWS and Google Cloud in Doha. Migrating public and enterprise services demands engineers who can instrument distributed systems from day one.

    OBSF builds cloud-native telemetry skills

    Reliability Pressure on Digital Services

Banks, telecoms and government platforms in Qatar promise high availability to millions of users. Weak SLO practice causes outages and reputational risk that observability-literate teams are hired to prevent.

OBSF builds SLI, SLO and error-budget skills

    Observability Talent Is Scarce

Qatar's IT pool is deep in generalist administrators but thin in engineers fluent in metrics, logs, traces and OpenTelemetry, making credentialed observability practitioners rare and valued.

OBSF makes certified engineers stand out

    Rising Telemetry Cost and Sovereignty

High-cardinality data and data-residency rules push Qatar organisations to control observability spend. Smart sampling and pipeline design keep insight high while managing cost and compliance.

OBSF builds telemetry-pipeline and sampling skills

    Incident Response and On-Call Burnout

Noisy, symptom-based alerts exhaust on-call teams across the region. Burn-rate alerting, runbooks and blameless retrospectives turn firefighting into a calmer, continuous-learning practice.

OBSF builds alerting and incident-response skills

Observability is more than a tool choice. It is a career advantage for engineers who keep modern systems reliable. Join professionals in Qatar who turn telemetry into faster, calmer incident response. Start your journey today.

    Your Qatar Career Transformation

    Where You Stand Today,

And Where Observability Foundation Takes You

Qatar's technology market is expanding with cloud adoption, TASMU Smart Qatar and Qatar National Vision 2030, and employers increasingly separate engineers who can reliably operate distributed systems from the rest. Here is which side of that line you want to be on.

    Today

Salary capped with limited leverage to negotiate in the Qatar market

    After OBSF

DevOps and SRE roles in Qatar reach well above QAR 216,000, with senior reliability bands higher still

    Today

Shortlisted less often for roles that list observability skills as preferred

    After OBSF

Eligible for reliability roles across telecom, banking, government and cloud

    Today

Confident with tools, but employers want end-to-end observability practice

    After OBSF

Fluent in instrumenting systems and operating them to defined SLOs

    You earn Observability Foundation

    Before

Observability skills that rely on tool experience, not a recognised credential

    Now you have

A vendor-neutral DevOps Institute credential recognised by employers in Qatar and worldwide

    Before

Stuck in reactive monitoring with no formal reliability mandate

    Now you have

A clear route into DevOps engineer, SRE and platform engineer roles

    Before

Dashboard-focused, with limited visibility into distributed systems

    Now you have

The skills teams need: metrics, logs, traces, SLOs and OpenTelemetry

    Before

Recognition limited when you change employer or move abroad

    Now you have

A globally portable credential that travels across sectors and regions

"The gap between watching dashboards and truly understanding a system is increasingly a recognised credential, and the teams that matter already know it."

    Metrics, Logs and Distributed Tracing

Work with counters, gauges and histograms, structured logging and log aggregation, and spans, context and propagation, then correlate all three pillars to speed up root-cause analysis in production.

SLIs, SLOs, SLAs and Error Budgets

Define service-level indicators that matter to users, set meaningful objectives, and use error budgets to balance reliability against delivery velocity, the language reliability teams in Qatar increasingly expect.

    OpenTelemetry and Telemetry Pipelines

Understand OpenTelemetry SDKs, collectors and semantic conventions, plus aggregation, transformation, routing and sampling strategies that keep insight high while controlling observability cost.

    Alerting Strategy and Incident Response

Move from alert-on-symptom to burn-rate alerting, design on-call rotations that reduce alert fatigue, and run incident runbooks, blameless postmortems and continuous-learning loops.

    SRE, AIOps and Exam Readiness

See how observability underpins mature SRE and AIOps practice, then prepare for the 40-question, 60-minute, open-book Observability Foundation exam with sample questions and time-management guidance.

What is the format of the Observability Foundation exam?

The exam is open book with single-answer multiple-choice questions, based on the DevOps Institute Observability Foundation Exam Blueprint and Body of Knowledge. It is delivered online proctored through PeopleCert OnVUE or at an authorised test centre.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

What is the passing score for the exam?

The passing score is 65%, which means answering at least 26 of the 40 questions correctly. Focus on broad understanding across the three pillars, SLOs, OpenTelemetry and incident response.

Are there any prerequisites for the exam?

No. There are no formal prerequisites and the certification is open to all. Familiarity with DevOps concepts or IT operations is beneficial but not required, and the training covers the syllabus from the ground up.

What if I do not pass the exam on the first attempt?

    Course Content

What topics does the Observability Foundation training cover?

The training covers observability principles and the three pillars, metrics, logs and distributed tracing, SLIs, SLOs, SLAs and error budgets, OpenTelemetry and telemetry pipelines, alerting strategy and incident response, and SRE, AIOps and exam preparation.

Can a beginner take this course?

Yes. There are no prerequisites, and the course builds concepts from first principles. Some exposure to DevOps or IT operations helps, but the trainer guides you through metrics, logs, traces, SLOs and OpenTelemetry with practical, real-world examples.

What is OpenTelemetry and why does the course cover it?

OpenTelemetry (OTel) is the CNCF vendor-neutral standard for collecting metrics, logs and traces. It is the de facto framework for instrumentation, so the course covers its SDKs, collectors, semantic conventions and sampling strategies.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest syllabus?

Yes. The accredited courseware is aligned to the current DevOps Institute Observability Foundation Exam Blueprint and Body of Knowledge, so you study the concepts and terminology assessed in the exam.
