Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

COBIT 5 Assessor is the highest-level qualification in the COBIT 5 scheme. It validates your ability to plan, conduct, rate and report formal COBIT 5 process capability assessments using the Process Assessment Model, aligned to ISO/IEC 15504. It is designed for IT auditors, GRC specialists and governance consultants.

    General

What is the COBIT 5 Assessor certification and who is it for?

COBIT 5 Assessor is the highest-level qualification in the COBIT 5 scheme. It validates your ability to plan, conduct, rate and report formal COBIT 5 process capability assessments using the Process Assessment Model, aligned to ISO/IEC 15504. It is designed for IT auditors, GRC specialists and governance consultants.

Is the COBIT 5 Assessor certification recognised in the Maldives?

Yes. COBIT is a globally recognised standard for IT governance, and the assessor credential is valued by Maldivian banks, telecoms, public bodies and audit firms. PeopleCert delivers the exam in over 200 countries, so the credential travels with you.

What are the prerequisites for COBIT 5 Assessor?

COBIT 5 Foundation certification is required before you can sit the Assessor exam. COBIT 5 Implementation is recommended, and the exam assumes both Foundation and Implementation knowledge. No formal work experience is mandated, but IT audit or governance experience is strongly advised.

Is COBIT 5 Assessor worth it for my career in the Maldives?

Yes. As the Maldives advances Maldives 2.0 and its Cyber Security Act, employers need specialists who can measure governance capability credibly. Senior IT governance and security roles reach well into the MVR 400k-660k band, and certified assessors are scarce and sought after.

How is COBIT 5 Assessor different from COBIT 5 Implementation?

Implementation validates your ability to plan and manage a governance improvement programme. Assessor validates the specialist ability to conduct formal process capability assessments using the COBIT 5 PAM and ISO/IEC 15504. Implementation covers governance delivery; Assessor covers governance measurement.

    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Assessor exam?

It is an open-book, objective-testing exam based on the COBIT 5 Assessor Exam Syllabus (2024 version). Only the COBIT 5 Assessor Guide: Using COBIT 5 and the COBIT Process Assessment Model are permitted. Questions require specialist analysis in realistic assessment scenarios.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 8 questions, each worth 10 marks, for a total of 80 marks. You have 2 and a half hours (150 minutes) to complete it. All 8 questions are scored.

What is the passing score for COBIT 5 Assessor?

The pass mark is 50%. You need 40 marks or more out of the 80 available to pass. Focus on applying the PAM, capability levels and the four-point rating scale accurately across scenarios.

How and where is the exam delivered?

PeopleCert delivers the exam through OnVUE online proctoring, available 24/7, or at authorised test centres worldwide. You can sit it from your home or office in the Maldives, or at a test centre, whichever suits you.

What happens if I do not pass the first time?

You can retake the exam. Our training includes scenario-based mock questions and open-book technique to help you pass first time, and our team guides you on rebooking through PeopleCert. Confirm the current re-sit policy at the time of booking.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the COBIT 5 Assessor training?

The 16-hour programme covers all five topic areas: overview of COBIT 5 process assessment, the Process Assessment Model, capability levels and attributes, assessment planning and execution, and evidence, rating and reporting, all aligned to ISO/IEC 15504.

What are the six COBIT 5 capability levels and nine process attributes?

The six levels run from Level 0 Incomplete to Level 5 Optimising. They are assessed through nine process attributes, from PA 1.1 Process Performance up to PA 5.2 Process Optimisation, using a four-point rating scale of Not, Partially, Largely and Fully Achieved.

Do I need prior COBIT knowledge to take this course?

Yes. You should hold COBIT 5 Foundation, and Implementation is recommended, as the Assessor course assumes both. It is a specialist, advanced-level programme, not an introduction to COBIT, so Foundation and Implementation content is not retaught here.

    What learning materials are provided?

You receive COBIT 5 Assessor aligned courseware, industry-driven case studies on assessment planning, evidence, rating and reporting, mock exams and practice questions, plus guidance on navigating the assessor guide efficiently under exam conditions.

Will I get hands-on assessment practice?

Yes. The training uses realistic IT governance scenarios so you practise scoping, evidence collection, rating with the four-point scale, and building process capability profiles, connecting the syllabus to real assessment work.

    Enrollment

Who can enrol in the COBIT 5 Assessor course?

Anyone can enrol in the training. To sit the exam, you must hold COBIT 5 Foundation, with Implementation recommended. The course best suits IT auditors, GRC and compliance specialists, governance consultants and lead assessors.

How do I enrol in the course?
