Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

COBIT 5 Assessor is the highest-level qualification in the COBIT 5 scheme. It validates your ability to plan, conduct, rate and report formal process capability assessments using the COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model (PAM), which is aligned to ISO/IEC 15504. The exam is based on the COBIT 5 Assessor Exam Syllabus (2024 version).

    General

What is the COBIT 5 Assessor certification?

COBIT 5 Assessor is the highest-level qualification in the COBIT 5 scheme. It validates your ability to plan, conduct, rate and report formal process capability assessments using the COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model (PAM), which is aligned to ISO/IEC 15504. The exam is based on the COBIT 5 Assessor Exam Syllabus (2024 version).

Who should take COBIT 5 Assessor training in Malta?

It is designed for IT auditors, GRC specialists, IT governance consultants and audit leaders who conduct or lead formal capability assessments. In Malta it is especially relevant for professionals in iGaming, banking, fintech and Big Four advisory who must evidence IT governance under NIS2, DORA and local regulators.

Is COBIT 5 Assessor worth it for my career?

Yes. It is the specialist assurance skill many Maltese employers now ask for, and it opens roles from IT auditor and GRC manager up to information security manager. IT auditors in Malta average around EUR 54,000, and governance and security managers earn considerably more. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

Is COBIT 5 Assessor recognised internationally?

Yes. COBIT is a globally recognised standard for IT governance, and Assessor is the highest level of the COBIT 5 scheme. Because the PAM is aligned to ISO/IEC 15504, assessments carry international credibility, and the credential is recognised by employers worldwide for IT audit, governance and GRC roles.

How does COBIT 5 Assessor differ from COBIT 5 Implementation?

Implementation validates the ability to plan and manage a governance improvement programme, while Assessor validates the ability to conduct formal process capability assessments using the PAM and ISO/IEC 15504. Implementation covers governance delivery; Assessor covers governance measurement. They are complementary specialist skills.

    Pricing

How much does COBIT 5 Assessor training cost in Malta?

Fees vary by format, whether you choose live virtual, classroom or corporate delivery, and whether an exam voucher is bundled. Pricing for Malta is available on request in euros. Request a quote and a learning advisor will share current options for your chosen format.

What is included in the course fee?

The training fee typically includes instructor-led sessions, courseware aligned to the 2024 Assessor syllabus, case studies, practice questions and mock exams, and learner support. Confirm whether the PeopleCert exam voucher is included when you request a quote.

Is the PeopleCert exam fee included in the training price?

It depends on the package. The COBIT 5 Assessor exam is delivered by PeopleCert, and pricing varies by region and channel. Some packages bundle the exam voucher and others price it separately. Ask a learning advisor to confirm what your package includes.

Do you offer corporate or group discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for audit, risk and IT governance teams. Contact us for a tailored quote for your organisation in Malta.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you and to see upcoming batches.

    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Assessor exam?

The COBIT 5 Assessor exam is an open-book, objective test delivered by PeopleCert, either online proctored through OnVUE or at an authorised test centre. It uses scenario-based questions that require you to apply the PAM and professional judgment, based on the COBIT 5 Assessor Exam Syllabus (2024 version).

How many questions are in the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 8 questions, each worth 10 marks, for 80 marks in total. You have 2 and a half hours (150 minutes) to complete it. All 8 questions are scored, so time management across the open-book paper matters.

What is the passing score for the exam?

The pass mark is 50 percent, which means 40 marks or more out of the 80 available. Because questions test applied analysis, focus on being able to rate capability and justify ratings with evidence, not just recall.

Which materials are allowed in the open-book exam?

Only two references are permitted: the COBIT 5 Assessor Guide: Using COBIT 5 and the COBIT Process Assessment Model. No other materials are allowed, so the training includes technique for navigating both quickly under timed conditions.

How and where do I sit the exam?

You sit the exam through PeopleCert, either from home or office via OnVUE online proctoring, available 24/7, or at an authorised test centre. You must hold COBIT 5 Foundation before sitting the Assessor exam.

What if I do not pass the first time?

You can re-sit the exam; PeopleCert re-sit fees and policy apply, so confirm the current terms at peoplecert.org. Our training includes mock exams and open-book practice to help you prepare thoroughly and reduce the need for a retake.

    Course Content

What topics does the COBIT 5 Assessor course cover?

The course covers the five Assessor topic areas: the overview of COBIT 5 process assessment, the COBIT 5 PAM, capability levels and attributes, assessment planning and execution, and evidence, rating and reporting. It is aligned to the COBIT 5 Assessor Exam Syllabus (2024 version).

What is the COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model (PAM)?

The PAM is the ISO/IEC 15504-aligned model used to assess the capability of COBIT 5 processes. It has two dimensions: the process dimension, covering the 37 COBIT 5 processes, and the capability dimension, covering six levels from Incomplete to Optimising. The course teaches you to apply it in full.

What are the six capability levels and nine process attributes?

The six capability levels run from Level 0 Incomplete through Performed, Managed, Established, Predictable to Level 5 Optimising. The nine process attributes, from PA 1.1 Process Performance to PA 5.2 Process Optimisation, are rated on a four-point scale of Not Achieved, Partially, Largely and Fully Achieved.

Do I need COBIT 5 Foundation before this course?

Yes. COBIT 5 Foundation is a required prerequisite for the Assessor exam, and COBIT 5 Implementation is recommended. The Assessor course assumes Foundation knowledge, so it focuses on assessment at application and analysis level rather than reteaching the framework basics.

How long is the COBIT 5 Assessor training?

The programme runs for 16 hours, typically delivered as two full days or four half days. It covers all five Assessor topic areas at application and analysis level and prepares you for the open-book PeopleCert exam.
