The DevOps Foundation exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination with single-answer questions. It is based on the DevOps Foundation Body of Knowledge and delivered online through PeopleCert OnVUE or at an authorised test centre.

How many questions are on the DevOps Foundation exam?

The exam has 40 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 60 minutes. It is taken closed book, with single-answer questions across the six topic areas of the blueprint.

What is the passing score for the DevOps Foundation exam?

You need 65% to pass, which is 26 out of 40 questions answered correctly.

Are there prerequisites for the DevOps Foundation exam?

No. There are no formal prerequisites for DevOps Foundation, so it is open to all regardless of education, experience or prior DevOps knowledge.

What if I do not pass the exam on the first attempt?

What topics does the DevOps Foundation course cover?

The course covers six areas from the DevOps Institute blueprint: DevOps foundations, DevOps concepts and practices, Agile, ITSM and Lean IT, the continuous delivery pipeline, automation and tooling, and DevOps culture and organisation.

Will I learn about CI/CD and DevOps tools?

Yes. You will explore continuous integration and delivery, Infrastructure as Code and the DevOps toolchain, including Git, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD platforms and observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
