Market Forces Fuelling Demand for Improvement Talent

    Rising Labour Costs Squeeze Margins

Latvian wages have climbed steadily, with the national average gross wage near EUR 1,831 a month. Manufacturers must cut cycle time and waste to stay competitive, the exact savings Black Belts are trained to deliver.

A Black Belt delivers measurable waste reduction

Strict Quality Demands in Pharma and Food

Latvia's pharmaceutical and food producers work under tight regulatory and quality requirements. Defects and variation are costly, so employers value professionals who can apply DMAIC to drive down error rates.

DMAIC reduces defects and protects compliance

    Scaling Complexity in Shared Services

Riga's nearly 20,000 shared-services staff run complex finance, procurement and customer processes. Process variation threatens service levels, making Lean Six Sigma standardisation skills highly sought after.

    Black Belts standardise high-volume processes

    Shortage of Certified Improvement Talent

Latvia has a deep pool of operators but few credentialed Black Belts. The advanced statistical depth of the certification makes holders rare and attractive to employers competing for improvement leaders.

Certification makes your profile stand out

    Modernising Legacy Manufacturing

Latvian plants are investing in automation and modern lines. Without statistical process control and Lean controls, hard-won improvements slip, so SPC and control-plan skills are in growing demand.

    Control-phase tools sustain the gains

Flow Pressure at the Baltic Gateway

Riga's port and logistics network handles heavy regional freight. Bottlenecks and delays erode value, so employers want professionals who can map flow and remove waste end to end.

Lean cuts delay across the supply chain

    Lead End-To-End DMAIC Projects

Skills covered in the Black Belt programme span the full DMAIC cycle. You learn to define, measure, analyse, improve and control complex processes, scoping projects that tie directly to business and customer priorities.

Apply Advanced Statistics and Hypothesis Testing

Run t-tests, ANOVA, chi-squared and non-parametric tests to separate real signals from noise, and base improvement decisions on sound statistical evidence rather than opinion.

    Master Measurement and Process Capability

Carry out measurement system analysis, Gage R&R and capability studies so you can trust your data and quantify how well a process meets its specifications.

    Design and Analyse Experiments

Plan and interpret full and fractional factorial designs of experiments to find the vital few factors that drive process performance and optimise outcomes.

Embed Lean Tools and Waste Reduction

Apply 5S, value stream mapping, Kanban and Poka-Yoke within DMAIC to remove the seven wastes and streamline flow across operations.

Sustain Gains with Statistical Process Control

Build control plans and SPC charts such as I-MR, Xbar-R and P charts so improvements hold long after the project closes.

    General

What is the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification?

The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt is the advanced process improvement credential from IASSC, now part of PeopleCert. It is an independent validation that you can lead complex projects across all five DMAIC phases, using advanced statistics, Lean tools and project leadership. The professional designation awarded is the certified Black Belt (ICBB).

Is the Black Belt worth it for professionals in Riga?

Yes. Latvia's manufacturers, pharmaceutical producers, shared-service centres and logistics firms increasingly hire certified Black Belts to cut waste and protect margins. The credential maps to senior roles such as Operational Excellence Manager and Head of Operations, which pay well above the national average wage.

Who should take Lean Six Sigma Black Belt training?

The training suits engineers, quality managers, continuous improvement specialists and operations leaders who want to lead complex improvement projects. It is ideal for professionals in manufacturing, pharma, shared services and logistics who are ready to move beyond Green Belt level.

Do I need a Green Belt before the Black Belt?

No. There are no formal prerequisites for the Black Belt certification. Prior Green Belt knowledge and real project experience are recommended and help you get the most from the advanced content, but they are not mandatory to train or sit the exam.

How long is the Black Belt certification valid?

The certification holds Current status for three years from the date you certify. To stay current, you pass a recertification exam before the elapse date or within 90 days after, so your credential continues to reflect up-to-date competence.

What is included in the Black Belt course fee?

    Exam

What is the format of the Black Belt exam?

The exam is closed book with 150 multiple-choice questions. A reference document with the required formulas and tables is provided. You can sit it online with web-based proctoring on demand, or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The Black Belt exam has 150 scored multiple-choice questions and a duration of four hours (240 minutes). Some forms include up to 15 additional unscored pretest questions. Non-native speakers may be allowed an extra 60 minutes.

What is the passing score for the Black Belt exam?

You need a minimum of 580 points out of 750 to pass. Because the analyse phase carries the most weight, the training builds broad mastery across Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control so you are ready for every section.

What is the exam application process?

First, review the IASSC Body of Knowledge and, if you wish, take the optional non-proctored evaluation exam to check readiness. Then purchase your exam voucher, choose online or test-centre delivery, schedule your slot and sit the four-hour exam. Our team can guide you through each step.

What if I do not pass the first time?

You can retake the exam by purchasing a new voucher and rescheduling. Our trainers help you target weak areas using mock exams and practice questions, so you go into your next attempt with a focused, confident revision plan.

    Course Content

What topics does the training cover?

The programme covers the five DMAIC phases: Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control. You work through advanced statistics, measurement system analysis, hypothesis testing, design of experiments, Lean tools and statistical process control.

Do I need prior experience to follow the course?

Some Green Belt or process improvement background helps, but the course builds the advanced concepts step by step. Trainers explain the statistics in plain terms and use hands-on exercises, so committed learners can keep pace and apply the tools at work.

    What learning resources are provided?

You receive structured courseware, practice questions, full-length mock exams, templates and topic-wise quizzes. These resources help you reinforce each DMAIC phase, identify weak areas and build readiness for the Black Belt exam.

Are there practice exams and exercises?

Yes. The programme includes scenario-based exercises and mock exams that mirror the 150-question, four-hour format. Practising under realistic conditions builds your timing, accuracy and confidence before exam day.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest Body of Knowledge?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current IASSC Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Body of Knowledge, which is structured around the five DMAIC phases, so what you study matches what the exam evaluates.
