Why IT Governance Skills Are in Demand Across Kazakhstan

    Governance Gap Behind Rapid Digitalisation

Kazakhstan has moved almost all banking online and digitised most public services, but formal IT governance often lags the pace of change, the exact gap COBIT 5 implementers are trained to close.

COBIT 5-I closes the implementation gap

    Fintech and Banking Compliance Pressure

The National Bank's digital tenge, open banking and the 2026 fintech framework raise the bar for IT governance in banks and fintechs, driving demand for structured governance improvement.

COBIT 5-I builds governance and risk skills

    IT Risk in Critical Industries

Oil, gas, mining and utilities run complex OT and IT estates where weak governance carries real operational and regulatory risk, so employers value leaders who can improve governance maturity.

    COBIT 5-I raises governance maturity

    Scarce Certified Governance Talent

Kazakhstan has a deep pool of developers and project managers but far fewer credentialed governance professionals, making COBIT 5 Implementation holders rare and highly visible to employers.

COBIT 5-I makes holders stand out

    Building a Digital State

A new Ministry of AI and Digital Development, a Digital Code and the once-only public data model demand strong governance across agencies, creating roles for professionals who can implement it.

    COBIT 5-I supports public-sector governance

    AI and Data Governance Demands

As data centres, AI agents and an incoming AI law reshape enterprise IT, organisations need governance that keeps data, risk and compliance under control at scale.

    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Implementation exam?

It is an open-book exam of 4 questions, each worth 20 marks, for 80 marks in total, completed in 2 and a half hours (150 minutes). Only the COBIT 5 Implementation book and the COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide are permitted.

What is the passing score for the exam?

The pass mark is 50%. You need 40 marks or more out of the 80 available to pass. Questions are scenario-based, so success depends on applying the method, not just locating text in the reference books.

What are the prerequisites for the exam?

COBIT 5 Foundation certification is required before you sit the Implementation exam. Foundation knowledge, including the five principles, seven enablers and process reference model, is assumed and not re-taught in the Implementation course.

Which materials can I use in the open-book exam?

What happens if I do not pass the first time?

You can re-sit the exam. Our training includes preparation and guidance aimed at a first-attempt pass, and we support you if a re-sit is needed. Confirm the current re-sit policy and fees at peoplecert.org.

    Course Content

What are the seven phases of the implementation lifecycle?

Phase 1: what are the drivers? Phase 2: where are we now? Phase 3: where do we want to be? Phase 4: what needs to be done? Phase 5: how do we get there? Phase 6: did we get there? Phase 7: how do we keep the momentum going? It is designed as a continuous cycle, not a one-off project.

Do I need COBIT 5 Foundation before this course?
