Market Forces Driving Programme Leadership Demand in Busan

    Smart Port Programme Complexity

Busan New Port's digital-twin and Chain Portal initiatives coordinate many interlinked projects at once, demanding programme-grade prioritisation, risk aggregation and governance that few local leaders can evidence.

PgMP builds governance and coordination skills

    Strategy to Delivery Gap

Boards fund EV, digital and marine-finance transformations, but weak links between strategy and the funded project mix cause value leakage that certified programme leaders are hired to close.

PgMP builds benefits and prioritisation skills

    Shipbuilding R&D Scale-Up

As the Big Three open R&D centres in Busan, multi-year capability programmes need benefits management and cross-project coordination well beyond single-project skills.

    PgMP builds programme life-cycle skills

    Programme Talent Scarcity

Korea's project management pool is deep, but credentialed programme leaders are rare. PgMP's demanding eligibility and panel review make holders stand out to senior employers.

PgMP makes certified leaders stand out

    Benefits Realisation Pressure

Capital discipline in finance, automotive and infrastructure pushes organisations to prove that programmes deliver strategic benefits, the exact discipline PgMP is built around.

    PgMP builds benefits-management skills

    AI and Digital Transformation

Busan's 6th Basic Informatization Plan and AI-city ambitions launch large digital programmes that require governance, stakeholder engagement and structured benefits tracking at scale.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

PgMP is PMI's expert-level programme management credential for professionals who lead multiple related projects as a coordinated programme to achieve strategic benefits. It is aimed at senior programme managers, PMO heads and directors in Busan with substantial experience.

    General

What is the PgMP certification and who is it for?

PgMP is PMI's expert-level programme management credential for professionals who lead multiple related projects as a coordinated programme to achieve strategic benefits. It is aimed at senior programme managers, PMO heads and directors in Busan with substantial experience.

Is the PgMP worth it for programme managers in Busan?

Yes. PgMP validates senior programme leadership and is held by fewer than 3,000 professionals worldwide, making it a strong differentiator. Busan employers in shipbuilding, logistics, finance and technology increasingly value certified programme leaders, and the credential supports moves into higher-paying senior roles.

    Is PMP required before PgMP?

No. PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three PgMP eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience.

How long is the PgMP certification valid?

PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year continuing certification requirements cycle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area.

What standard is the PgMP based on?

The PgMP is based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and PMI's The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. Training aligned to the 4th Edition standard covers the five performance domains PMI tests.

    Is the PgMP recognised internationally?

Yes. As a PMI credential, PgMP carries global recognition across more than 200 countries and is referenced by senior employers worldwide as a benchmark for programme management excellence.

How much does PgMP training cost in Busan?

    Exam

What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. It uses scenario-based questions across five performance domains.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 170 questions and a four-hour allotted time. It is delivered online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

Five domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%).

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience. It is a mandatory step alongside the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

What is the passing score for the PgMP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback, so focus on broad mastery across all five domains.

What if I do not pass the exam first time?

You may attempt the exam up to three times within the one-year eligibility period. Re-examination fees apply to later attempts. Our training and practice resources are designed to prepare you for a first-time pass.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the PgMP training?

The training covers the five PgMP performance domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus the application, panel review and exam strategy.

Do I need prior experience to take this course?

The training welcomes experienced professionals. To sit the PgMP exam, PMI requires substantial project and programme management experience, but you can begin training and prepare your application in parallel with our guidance.

    What learning resources are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the PgMP Examination Content Outline and Handbook, practice questions, mock exams, templates and quizzes mapped to the five domains.

How many contact hours does the training provide?
