Market Forces Driving Demand for QFD Skills in Jamaica

    Export-Grade Quality Pressure

As leading Jamaican firms target most of their profit from overseas markets, products must meet demanding customer and regulatory standards. QFD is built to design that quality in from the first requirement.

    QFD builds customer-driven design skills

    Contract Manufacturing Standards

Local producers now manufacture for global brands, where customer specifications are strict and traceable. Teams that can translate those requirements into design and process controls are in demand.

    QFD builds requirement-translation skills

    New Product Development Push

Clean beauty, cosmetics and consumer goods are priority growth segments that live or die on new products. QFD helps teams launch products genuinely designed around customer needs, not guesswork.

QFD builds House of Quality skills

    Modern Methods and Standards Gap

Industry bodies are pushing manufacturers toward modern production methods and quality standards. QFD gives teams a structured, repeatable way to plan quality across the product life cycle.

QFD builds structured quality planning skills

    Strategy-To-Design Disconnect

Customer feedback is often captured but lost before it reaches design. QFD closes that gap, carrying the Voice of the Customer through to measurable engineering targets.

    QFD builds prioritisation skills

    Cost and Rework Pressure

Late design changes and rework erode margins in competitive food, beverage and consumer markets. QFD surfaces design conflicts early, before they reach costly prototype and production stages.

Is QFD training worth it for product and quality professionals?

Yes. QFD gives you a structured way to design products and services around genuine customer needs, reducing rework, late design changes and product launch risk. The skill is valued across Jamaican manufacturing, consumer goods and contract manufacturing, where customer-grade quality is a competitive edge.

Do I need prior experience to take this course?

No. There are no formal prerequisites and the course introduces QFD and the House of Quality from first principles. Familiarity with product development or quality management is helpful but not required.

What is the House of Quality?

The House of Quality is the central QFD planning matrix, named for its house-like shape. It links customer requirements to engineering characteristics, scores their relationships, exposes design trade-offs in its roof, benchmarks against competitors and sets engineering targets, all anchored to customer priorities.

    Pricing

How much does QFD training cost in Jamaica?

Pricing varies by delivery format (live virtual, classroom or corporate) and group size, so fees are available on request. Contact a learning advisor for current pricing and upcoming schedules, or ask about group rates for your team.

What is included in the QFD course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led training across all six QFD modules, hands-on House of Quality exercises, structured courseware, case studies, templates, learner support and a course completion record from Invensis Learning. Request a quote for the full inclusions.

Do you offer corporate or group rates for QFD training?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for product, quality and operations teams. Corporate delivery is especially effective as your team can build a House of Quality for one of your own products. Contact us for a tailored quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

Is there a discount for booking a team?

Group and corporate bookings qualify for volume-based pricing. If you are training several colleagues together, ask about corporate rates and we will prepare a quote for your team.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for QFD training?

No. QFD training is a non-certification course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on House of Quality construction exercises, case studies and team discussion during the one-day programme.

Do I get a certificate after QFD training?

You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning on completing the programme. No formal certification or credential is awarded by an external body, as this is a practical skills course rather than a certification.

How is learning assessed during the course?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you learn by doing: structuring the Voice of the Customer with an affinity diagram, classifying needs with the Kano model, and building and interpreting a complete House of Quality from a realistic scenario.

    Is QFD a certification?

No. QFD is a methodology, and this is a skills training course, not a certification. It builds practical House of Quality and Voice of the Customer capability you can apply immediately, without any exam or renewal requirement.

Does the course complement other quality training?

Yes. QFD is a strong complement to Design for Six Sigma, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and Quality by Design training. QFD is the core Voice of the Customer tool in the DFSS DMADV Measure phase and the DMAIC Define phase.

    Course Content

What topics does the QFD course cover?

The course covers QFD principles and origins, capturing and structuring the Voice of the Customer, building the six rooms of the House of Quality, interpreting the matrix, cascading QFD through its four phases, and applying QFD in DFSS, DMAIC and service design.

How long is the QFD training?

The training is delivered as a one-day, eight-hour programme covering all six QFD modules, with hands-on House of Quality exercises throughout. A half-day format across two sessions is also available.

Will I build a House of Quality during the course?

Yes. You build and interpret a complete House of Quality from a realistic product or service scenario, including the relationship matrix, the correlation roof, competitive benchmarking and engineering targets, so you can run one at work afterwards.

Does QFD apply to services and software, or only manufacturing?

QFD applies well beyond manufacturing. The course covers QFD for services such as healthcare and financial services, and for software, alongside product development. The House of Quality works wherever customer requirements must be translated into design or delivery specifications.

How does QFD fit with Six Sigma?

QFD is a core tool in Design for Six Sigma, used in the DMADV Measure phase to translate the Voice of the Customer into critical-to-quality requirements, and in the DMAIC Define phase to scope projects around what truly matters to customers.

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete the booking, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Contact a learning advisor if you would like help choosing a session.

    What training formats are available?

QFD training is available as live virtual instructor-led sessions, classroom training, onsite delivery and customised corporate group training, so you can choose the format that best fits your schedule and team.

Can I attend QFD training online in Jamaica?
