    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Assessor exam?

The COBIT 5 Assessor exam is an open-book, objective-testing examination of 8 questions, each worth 10 marks, for a total of 80 marks. It is delivered by PeopleCert through online proctoring or at authorised test centres. Only the COBIT 5 Assessor Guide and COBIT Process Assessment Model are permitted.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

There are 8 questions per paper, each worth 10 marks, giving 80 marks in total. You have 2 and a half hours (150 minutes) to complete the exam. All 8 questions are scored, covering the five COBIT 5 Assessor topic areas.

What is the passing score for the COBIT 5 Assessor exam?

The passing score is 50 percent, which means you must achieve 40 marks or more out of the 80 available. The training uses scenario-based practice mapped to the 8-question format so you can prepare for that standard with confidence.

What are the prerequisites for the COBIT 5 Assessor exam?

COBIT 5 Foundation certification is required before you can sit the Assessor exam, and COBIT 5 Implementation is recommended. The Assessor exam assumes Foundation knowledge of the five principles, seven enablers and process reference model, so this is not retaught in the course.

Which materials are permitted in the open-book exam?

Only two references are permitted: the COBIT 5 Assessor Guide, Using COBIT 5, and the COBIT Process Assessment Model. No other materials are allowed. Because the questions require analysis and judgement, the course focuses on navigating these references quickly under timed conditions.

    Course Content

What topics does the COBIT 5 Assessor course cover?

The course covers the five COBIT 5 Assessor topic areas: an overview of COBIT 5 process assessment, the COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model, capability levels and attributes, assessment planning and execution, and evidence, rating and reporting. All are taught at application and analysis level.

What is the COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model (PAM)?

The COBIT 5 PAM is the ISO/IEC 15504-aligned model used to assess process capability. It has two dimensions: the process dimension (the 37 COBIT 5 processes) and the capability dimension (six levels from 0 Incomplete to 5 Optimising). You learn to apply both in formal assessments.

What are the six COBIT 5 capability levels?

They are Level 0 Incomplete, Level 1 Performed, Level 2 Managed, Level 3 Established, Level 4 Predictable and Level 5 Optimising. Each is assessed through the nine process attributes and a four-point rating scale of Not, Partially, Largely and Fully Achieved.

Are practice materials and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes scenario-based practice questions, mock exams and case studies aligned to the 8-question, open-book format, plus guidance on navigating the permitted references efficiently so you can identify and close weak areas before exam day.

How long is the COBIT 5 Assessor training?

The COBIT 5 Assessor programme runs for 16 hours. It can be delivered as two full days or as four half-days, depending on the schedule you choose. The format covers all five topic areas and prepares you for the PeopleCert exam.
