    Do I need Scrum Foundation before taking ASM?

    What is the format of the EXIN ASM exam?

    The EXIN Agile Scrum Master exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination with single-answer questions. It is taken online with proctoring or at an accredited EXIN testing location.

    How many questions are on the ASM exam and what is the pass mark?

    The exam has 40 multiple-choice questions and you need 65 percent, which is 26 correct answers, to pass. You have 90 minutes (1.5 hours) to complete it.

    What topics does the ASM exam cover?

    The exam covers five EXIN topic areas: Agile Way of Thinking (20 percent), Scrum Master Role (25 percent), Agile Estimating, Planning, Monitoring and Control (27.5 percent), Complex Projects (12.5 percent) and Adopting Agile (15 percent).

    Do I need work experience to sit the ASM exam?

    No formal work experience is required to take the EXIN ASM exam. EXIN recommends Scrum Foundation knowledge as a starting point, but there is no mandatory experience or education prerequisite.

    What if I do not pass the ASM exam the first time?

    You can resit the EXIN exam if needed, and a reexamination fee applies, payable through your training provider or EXIN. Our exam-prep support, mock questions and trainer guidance are designed to help you pass on your first attempt.

    How long is the ASM training programme?

    The Agile Scrum Master training programme runs for around 16 hours, typically delivered over two days, or across multiple shorter sessions. It covers all five EXIN topic areas and prepares you for the exam.

    Can a beginner take this course?

    Yes. The course is suitable for those new to the Scrum Master role, and Scrum Foundation knowledge helps but is not mandatory. Trainers explain the framework, estimation and facilitation step by step, with hands-on practice throughout.
