Industry Forces Driving Demand for QFD Skills in Ireland

    Regulated Design Under Scrutiny

Ireland's medtech and pharma sectors must trace every design decision to a customer or clinical requirement. QFD gives teams a documented link from the Voice of the Customer to engineering targets and controls.

QFD builds a customer-to-design audit trail

    Costly Late-Stage Design Changes

Product launches slip when design iterations pile up late. The House of Quality and its correlation roof reveal design conflicts early, cutting rework, cost and time to market.

QFD surfaces conflicts and trade-offs early

Voice of the Customer Lost in Handover

Requirements captured by marketing often get diluted before they reach engineering. QFD keeps customer needs traceable and measurable across the whole development chain.

QFD keeps customer needs visible and measurable

DFSS and Six Sigma Skills Gap

As Irish manufacturers scale Design for Six Sigma, they need practitioners who can run QFD in the DMADV Measure phase. QFD-capable professionals remain in short supply.

QFD skills stand out to Irish employers

    Rising Product Complexity

Connected devices and combination products demand cross-functional alignment. The four-phase QFD cascade links customer needs to parts, process and production controls.

Quality Function Deployment training is a practical, one-day skills course that teaches the QFD methodology and the House of Quality. You learn to capture the Voice of the Customer, translate customer requirements into measurable engineering characteristics, prioritise design decisions, and cascade QFD through product, parts, process and production planning.

The course suits product designers, design engineers, quality engineers, product managers, R&D professionals and Six Sigma practitioners. It is ideal for anyone in Ireland's medtech, pharma, technology or manufacturing sectors who needs to translate customer requirements into design or service specifications.

Yes. QFD is a widely used, cross-industry method for designing quality in from the start, so the skills apply directly to new product development, service design and DFSS projects. In Ireland, where medtech and pharma design roles are in demand, a structured customer-to-design skill adds real value on the job.

No. The course introduces QFD and the House of Quality from first principles, so no prior QFD experience is required. Familiarity with product development or quality management concepts is helpful but not essential.

QFD applies well beyond manufacturing. While it originated in product development, the course covers QFD for services such as healthcare and financial services, and for software design, because the customer-to-design translation challenge is universal.

    General

What is Quality Function Deployment training?

Quality Function Deployment training is a practical, one-day skills course that teaches the QFD methodology and the House of Quality. You learn to capture the Voice of the Customer, translate customer requirements into measurable engineering characteristics, prioritise design decisions, and cascade QFD through product, parts, process and production planning.

Who should attend the QFD course in Ireland?

The course suits product designers, design engineers, quality engineers, product managers, R&D professionals and Six Sigma practitioners. It is ideal for anyone in Ireland's medtech, pharma, technology or manufacturing sectors who needs to translate customer requirements into design or service specifications.

Is QFD training worth it for product and quality professionals?

Yes. QFD is a widely used, cross-industry method for designing quality in from the start, so the skills apply directly to new product development, service design and DFSS projects. In Ireland, where medtech and pharma design roles are in demand, a structured customer-to-design skill adds real value on the job.

Do I need prior experience or quality knowledge to join?

No. The course introduces QFD and the House of Quality from first principles, so no prior QFD experience is required. Familiarity with product development or quality management concepts is helpful but not essential.

Does QFD apply to services and software, or only manufacturing?

QFD applies well beyond manufacturing. While it originated in product development, the course covers QFD for services such as healthcare and financial services, and for software design, because the customer-to-design translation challenge is universal.

    Pricing

How much does QFD training cost in Ireland?

Fees vary by delivery format (live virtual, classroom or onsite) and by group size, so pricing is available on request. Request a quote and a learning advisor will share current options for individual and group training in Ireland.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee covers instructor-led training across all six QFD modules, hands-on House of Quality exercises, learning materials and templates, and a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. Talk to an advisor for the full inclusions on your chosen format.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate and group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for design, quality and R&D teams. Ask about corporate or group pricing and we will prepare a tailored quote for your team in Ireland.

Are there any separate exam or credential fees?

No. QFD training is a non-certification skills course, so there is no exam and no external credential fee. You pay only for the training, and you receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning on finishing the programme.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you or your organisation.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for the QFD course?

No. This is a non-certification course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on House of Quality construction exercises, case studies and team discussion during the one-day programme.

How is my learning assessed during the training?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you build and interpret your own House of Quality through guided, hands-on exercises, so you practise the full method on realistic product or service examples as you learn.

Do I get any proof of completion for the QFD course?

Yes. You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning confirming you completed the one-day programme. QFD is a practical skills course with no awarding body, so the value lies in capability you can apply immediately.

How does QFD fit with Six Sigma and DFSS?

QFD is a core tool within Design for Six Sigma, used in the DMADV Measure phase to translate the Voice of the Customer into critical-to-quality requirements, and in the DMAIC Define phase. The course shows exactly how QFD supports these projects.

What will I be able to do after the training?

You will be able to capture and structure the Voice of the Customer, build a complete House of Quality, calculate design priorities, resolve conflicts using the correlation roof, and cascade QFD through parts, process and production planning on your own projects.

    Course Content

What topics does the QFD training cover?

The course spans six modules: QFD foundations and business case, the Voice of the Customer, building the House of Quality, interpreting the House of Quality, the four-phase QFD cascade, and QFD in DFSS, DMAIC and service design, with hands-on exercises throughout.

What is the House of Quality?

The House of Quality is the central QFD planning matrix. Its six rooms link customer requirements to engineering characteristics, show the strength of each relationship, capture design trade-offs in the correlation roof, benchmark competitors, and set engineering targets driven by customer priorities.

How long is the QFD course?

The programme runs for one day (8 hours), and can also be delivered as two half-day sessions. It covers all six QFD modules with concept explanations, real-world examples and hands-on House of Quality construction.

What materials and hands-on practice are included?

You get structured courseware, House of Quality templates, worked case studies and guided exercises. You build a full House of Quality from a realistic scenario, classify needs with the Kano model, and calculate column importance during the session.

Does the course cover the four-phase QFD model?

Yes. Beyond the House of Quality (product planning), the course covers the full four-phase cascade: parts deployment, process planning and production planning, so you can trace customer requirements all the way to quality controls.
