What Is Driving Product Owner Demand in Cork

    Strategy to Delivery Gap

Cork enterprises fund digital and product programmes, but many struggle to link strategy to the work teams actually deliver. Product owners who maximise value close that gap.

CSPO builds product vision and value skills

    Scaling Agile Across Teams

As Apple, Dell and local SaaS firms scale agile, they need product owners who can hold product vision and order backlogs across many teams, not just run ceremonies.

CSPO builds backlog and vision skills

    Pharma and Medtech Digital Shift

Cork's large pharma and medtech cluster is digitising operations and products, creating demand for agile product roles that connect regulated delivery to clear value.

    CSPO builds value-driven delivery skills

    Product Owner Talent Shortage

Cork's talent pool is deep in developers and project managers but thin in skilled product owners, making a recognised Scrum Alliance credential a real differentiator.

CSPO makes product owners stand out

    Stakeholder and Value Pressure

Employers want product owners who can balance competing stakeholder demands and prove value, not just maintain a backlog. CSPO training builds exactly those skills.

CSPO builds stakeholder and value skills

    Backlog and Prioritisation Overload

Growing product portfolios mean overloaded backlogs and unclear priorities. Trained product owners bring the ordering and refinement discipline teams need to focus.

    Certification

Is there an exam for the CSPO certification?

How is the CSPO credential awarded?

After you attend and complete the approved course, your Certified Scrum Trainer reports your completion to Scrum Alliance. You then accept the Scrum Alliance licence agreement to activate your CSPO credential and digital badge.

    Who delivers the CSPO course?

The CSPO course must be delivered by a Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Trainer (CST). This ensures the training meets the current Scrum Alliance CSPO Learning Objectives and qualifies you for the credential.

Renew CSPO every two years by earning 16 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and paying the Scrum Alliance membership renewal fee. SEUs can be earned through training, conferences, coaching and self-study activities.

Where does CSPO sit in the Scrum Alliance track?

CSPO is the first level in the Scrum Alliance Product Owner track. From there you can progress to Advanced Certified Scrum Product Owner (A-CSPO) and then Certified Scrum Professional - Product Owner (CSP-PO).

    Course Content

What will I learn in the CSPO course?

You will learn the Scrum framework from the Product Owner's view: Scrum theory, the Product Owner role, product vision and the Product Goal, Product Backlog management, stakeholder collaboration and value, and release planning and forecasting.

Does the course cover Product Backlog management?

Yes. The course covers creating, refining and ordering the Product Backlog, writing user stories with INVEST criteria, applying prioritisation models, and using refinement to keep the backlog a clear single source of truth.

Is the training hands-on or just theory?

The training is practical and interactive. You work through real product ownership scenarios, exercises and case discussions led by a Certified Scrum Trainer, so you can apply the concepts directly in your own product context.

Which Scrum standard is the course based on?

The course is aligned to the current Scrum Alliance CSPO Learning Objectives and the Scrum Guide by Schwaber and Sutherland, including the Product Goal as the Product Backlog commitment introduced in the 2020 edition.

How long is the CSPO course?
