What Is Quality Function Deployment Training?UntitledYour Route to Customer-Driven Design

Quality Function Deployment (QFD) Training is a practical, one-day skills programme that teaches you how to translate customer requirements into clear design and engineering specifications using the House of Quality matrix. It is a non-certification course: there is no exam and no awarding body, only workplace-ready capability you can apply the next day. QFD was developed in Japan by Yoji Akao and Shigeru Mizuno and is now a standard tool in product development, manufacturing, services and Design for Six Sigma. In Guatemala, where food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, cement and export manufacturing compete on quality, professionals who can connect the Voice of the Customer to design decisions are increasingly valued. The training suits product designers, quality engineers, product managers and improvement specialists. You will build and interpret the House of Quality, prioritise engineering characteristics, resolve design conflicts and cascade QFD through parts, process and production planning. Start your QFD journey with Invensis Learning.

Market Forces Making QFD Skills Valuable in Guatemala

    Competing on Quality for Export

Guatemalan food, beverage and apparel exporters must meet demanding international customer specifications. QFD gives teams a structured way to turn those requirements into design and process controls.

QFD builds Voice of the Customer skills

    Nearshoring Raises the Bar

As US buyers shift sourcing closer to home, Guatemalan manufacturers win work only when quality is predictable. Professionals who can design around the Voice of the Customer help firms compete.

    QFD builds design-to-specification skills

    Costly Late-Stage Rework

Many product teams discover design problems only after tooling or launch. The House of Quality surfaces conflicts early, cutting rework, warranty claims and wasted development spend.

QFD builds House of Quality skills

The Voice of the Customer Gets Lost

Customer needs are often diluted between marketing and engineering. QFD creates a traceable link from what customers want to what engineers build, closing that communication gap.

    QFD builds requirement-translation skills

Six Sigma Projects Need Better Inputs

As Lean and Six Sigma spread across Guatemalan industry, teams need QFD to translate customer requirements into the CTQs that Design for Six Sigma and DMAIC projects depend on.

QFD builds Design for Six Sigma skills

    Shortage of Structured Design Skills

Guatemala has a deep pool of production engineers but few practitioners trained in customer-to-design methods. QFD skills make professionals stand out to employers.

It covers the Voice of the Customer, the House of Quality matrix and the four-phase QFD system, with hands-on exercises throughout.

Yes. As Guatemalan manufacturers compete on quality and win nearshoring work, employers value professionals who can design around the customer. QFD skills apply directly to product development, quality and improvement roles across food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, cement and export manufacturing.

The course suits product designers, design and quality engineers, product managers, R&D professionals and Six Sigma practitioners. Anyone who translates customer needs into product or service specifications will benefit, and no prior QFD knowledge is required.

No. This is a non-certification skills course with no exam and no awarding body. You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning that recognises your participation and the practical QFD skills you have built.

No formal prerequisites are needed. Familiarity with product development or quality management is helpful but not required, as the course introduces QFD and the House of Quality from first principles.

    General

What is Quality Function Deployment (QFD) training?

Quality Function Deployment training is a one-day, non-certification course that teaches you how to turn customer requirements into design and engineering specifications using the House of Quality. It covers the Voice of the Customer, the House of Quality matrix and the four-phase QFD system, with hands-on exercises throughout.

Is QFD training worth it for professionals in Guatemala?

Yes. As Guatemalan manufacturers compete on quality and win nearshoring work, employers value professionals who can design around the customer. QFD skills apply directly to product development, quality and improvement roles across food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, cement and export manufacturing.

Who should attend this QFD course?

The course suits product designers, design and quality engineers, product managers, R&D professionals and Six Sigma practitioners. Anyone who translates customer needs into product or service specifications will benefit, and no prior QFD knowledge is required.

Does the course lead to a certification?

No. This is a non-certification skills course with no exam and no awarding body. You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning that recognises your participation and the practical QFD skills you have built.

Do I need prior experience to take QFD training?

No formal prerequisites are needed. Familiarity with product development or quality management is helpful but not required, as the course introduces QFD and the House of Quality from first principles.

    Pricing

How much does QFD training cost in Guatemala?

Fees vary by delivery format, group size and whether you enrol as an individual or a corporate team, so pricing is available on request. Contact a learning advisor for a quote tailored to your needs.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically covers instructor-led training, structured courseware, hands-on House of Quality exercises, learning resources and a course completion certificate. Ask about the current inclusions when you request a quote.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate and group pricing with customised schedules for product, quality and engineering teams. Ask about corporate rates for training your team together on a real company product.

Are there savings for enrolling as a team?

Group enrolments are quoted on a volume basis, so training several colleagues together is more cost-effective. Contact us to discuss a group quote for your organisation.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major cards and bank transfers, and instalment options may be available on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Assessment

Is there an exam at the end of the course?

No. QFD training has no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on House of Quality construction exercises, case studies and team discussion during the one-day programme.

    How is my learning assessed?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you build and interpret QFD matrices during practical exercises, so you leave able to apply the House of Quality to your own products and services.

What will I receive after completing the training?

You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. It recognises that you have completed the programme and built practical QFD and House of Quality skills.

    Is this a recognised certification?

QFD is a methodology, not a certification scheme, so there is no awarding body or credential. The value lies in the workplace-ready skills you gain and can apply immediately.

Will QFD skills help with Six Sigma projects?

Yes. QFD is a core tool in Design for Six Sigma and is used in the DMAIC Define phase to translate the Voice of the Customer into critical-to-quality requirements, so the skills support your improvement projects directly.

    Course Content

What topics does the QFD training cover?

The course covers QFD foundations and the business case, the Voice of the Customer, building and interpreting the House of Quality, the four-phase QFD cascade, and applying QFD in Six Sigma and service design.

What is the House of Quality?

The House of Quality is the central QFD planning matrix. It links customer requirements to measurable engineering characteristics, assesses their relationships, flags design conflicts in the correlation roof, and sets engineering targets.

How long is the QFD course?

The training is delivered in one day of eight hours, covering all six QFD modules with concept explanations, real-world examples and hands-on House of Quality exercises.

Does the course cover services as well as products?

Yes. While QFD began in manufacturing, the course shows how to apply the House of Quality to services, healthcare, financial services and software, wherever customer requirements must become delivery specifications.

    Are there hands-on exercises?

Yes. You structure the Voice of the Customer with affinity diagrams and the Kano model, then build a complete House of Quality from a realistic scenario, calculate importance rankings and identify design conflicts.

    Enrollment

How soon can I start and how do I enrol?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website and join an upcoming batch. Choose your preferred format, complete your registration and you will receive access to schedules and course materials. Talk to an advisor to find the next available date.

    What training formats are available?

QFD training is offered as live online (virtual instructor-led) sessions, classroom training and customised corporate on-site delivery, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule.

Can the course be delivered at our workplace?

Yes. We deliver on-site corporate training for teams, which is especially effective because your team can build a House of Quality for one of your own products during the exercises.

    Can I reschedule my enrolment?

Yes. Rescheduling to another batch is possible on selected plans. Contact our support team to arrange a change to your booking.

How do I get help choosing the right option?

Speak with a learning advisor, who can recommend the best format and schedule for your goals and, for teams, arrange a group quote. Reach out through the enquiry form to get started.
