    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Implementation exam?

It is an open-book, objective-testing paper delivered through PeopleCert, either via OnVUE online proctoring or at an authorised test centre. Only the COBIT 5 Implementation book and the COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide are permitted.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has four questions, each worth 20 marks for 80 marks in total, and you have two and a half hours (150 minutes) to complete it. It is open book, using the two permitted COBIT 5 references only.

What is the passing score for the COBIT 5 Implementation exam?

The pass mark is 50 percent: you need 40 marks or more out of the 80 available. Although it is open book, the questions require scenario-based analysis, so deep method knowledge still matters.

What are the prerequisites for the exam?

COBIT 5 Foundation certification is required. Candidates who do not hold Foundation must take and pass it before sitting the Implementation exam, as Foundation knowledge of the framework is assumed throughout.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can re-sit the exam. Our training includes mock exams, practice questions and first-attempt guidance to prepare you well; verify the current re-sit policy and any fees with PeopleCert before booking.

    Course Content

What topics does the COBIT 5 Implementation course cover?

Four topic areas: the need for a governance framework and the seven-phase implementation lifecycle; change enablement; programme management; and continuous improvement. These map directly to the four exam questions.

What are the seven phases of the COBIT 5 implementation lifecycle?

Phase 1 drivers, Phase 2 current state, Phase 3 target state, Phase 4 roadmap, Phase 5 implementation, Phase 6 outcome evaluation, and Phase 7 sustaining momentum. It is designed as a continuous improvement cycle, not a one-off project.

Do I need prior experience to follow the course?

You need COBIT 5 Foundation as a prerequisite, since the Implementation course builds on it and does not re-teach the basics. Beyond that, practical governance or IT experience helps you apply the scenarios but is not formally required.

    What learning resources are provided?

You receive syllabus-aligned courseware, industry case studies illustrating the lifecycle and change enablement, mock exams and practice questions, and guidance on navigating the two permitted open-book references efficiently.

    How long is the training?

The COBIT 5 Implementation programme runs for 16 hours, typically delivered as two full days or four half-days. It covers all four topic areas at application level and prepares you for the open-book exam.
