Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (LSSBB) is the advanced practitioner credential from IASSC that validates your ability to lead complex improvement projects across all five DMAIC phases. It is designed for senior quality, operations and continuous improvement professionals who lead change and mentor Green Belts.

    General

What is the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification and who is it for?

The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (LSSBB) is the advanced practitioner credential from IASSC that validates your ability to lead complex improvement projects across all five DMAIC phases. It is designed for senior quality, operations and continuous improvement professionals who lead change and mentor Green Belts.

Is the Black Belt certification worth it in Madrid?

Yes. Black Belt holders in Spain earn around €69,000 on average, with senior continuous improvement and operational excellence roles reaching far higher. Madrid's banking, energy, pharma and logistics employers actively value certified professionals who can prove measurable savings.

Do I need prior certification or experience to take the course?

No. There are no formal prerequisites for the Black Belt credential, so no prior belt or set work experience is required. Training and real-world project experience are recommended but optional, which makes the programme accessible to motivated professionals.

How is the Black Belt different from the Green Belt?

The Black Belt is the advanced level: it covers full DMAIC at greater statistical depth, including hypothesis testing, regression and Design of Experiments, and prepares you to lead complex projects independently. The Green Belt supports projects and runs smaller, scoped improvements.

How long is the Black Belt certification valid?

The credential holds Current status for three years from the date of certification. To maintain it, you pass the recertification exam before the elapse date or within 90 days after, keeping your designation active for a further three years.

    Pricing

What is included in the Black Belt course fee?

The training fee typically includes instructor-led or self-paced access, courseware aligned to the Black Belt Body of Knowledge, practice questions, mock exams and learner support. The exam voucher is purchased separately. Request a quote for the current price in euros.

How much does Lean Six Sigma Black Belt training cost in Madrid?

Training fees vary by format and provider and are quoted in euros for the Madrid market; current pricing is available on request. The exam fee is billed separately under regional pricing. Talk to a learning advisor for a tailored quote.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

No. The exam voucher is purchased separately from the IASSC and PeopleCert order site and is not part of the training fee. The base exam price varies by location and region, so confirm the current amount before you book.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for quality and operations teams. Contact us for a tailored quote for your organisation in Madrid or across multiple locations.

What payment methods and instalment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you best.

    Exam

What is the format of the Black Belt exam?

The exam is closed book with 150 multiple-choice questions; some forms include up to 15 additional unscored questions. A reference document with the required formulas and tables is provided. It is delivered by online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

How long is the exam and what is the passing score?

You have four hours (240 minutes) to complete the exam, with additional time available for non-native speakers or candidates with a disability. The minimum passing score is 580 out of 750 points. Each scored question is worth one mark.

What is the exam application process?

After your training, optionally take the non-proctored evaluation exam to check readiness, then purchase your exam voucher from the IASSC order site. Choose online on-demand proctoring or a Pearson VUE test centre, schedule your slot, and sit the four-hour exam.

What topics are weighted most heavily on the exam?

The five DMAIC phases are weighted as Define 13.5%, Measure 21.5%, Analyse 26.5%, Improve 16.5% and Control 22.0%. Analyse and Control carry the most weight, so prioritise hypothesis testing, statistical analysis and statistical process control in your preparation.

Are prerequisites required to sit the exam?

No prerequisites are required to sit the Black Belt exam. There is no mandatory education, work experience or prior certification, though training and project experience are strongly recommended to prepare for the advanced statistical content.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the Black Belt programme?

You will learn the full DMAIC methodology: defining projects and capturing customer needs, measurement system analysis, hypothesis testing, regression, Design of Experiments, statistical process control and Lean tools such as 5S, Kanban and Poka-Yoke.

Can a beginner take this course or do I need experience?

Beginners with strong motivation can take the course, as there are no prerequisites. That said, the content is advanced and statistics-heavy, so prior process or Green Belt exposure helps. Our trainers and practice resources support learners at every stage.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams mapped to the 150-question format, plus topic-wise checks to help you identify weak areas and build readiness across all five DMAIC phases.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest Body of Knowledge?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Body of Knowledge, covering the five DMAIC phases, advanced statistics, Design of Experiments, statistical process control and integrated Lean tools.

What materials and support do I receive?

You receive structured courseware, practice questions, mock exams, reference materials and post-training support. Sessions are instructor-led with real-world examples and project-based exercises so you can apply the tools to your own workplace.
