    What is the format of the CSM exam?

    The CSM exam is an open-book, online, multiple-choice test taken through the Scrum Alliance member portal after you complete an approved course. It is based on the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives and the current Scrum Guide.

    How many questions are on the CSM exam and how long is it?

    The exam has 50 multiple-choice questions and you have 60 minutes to complete it. It is taken online without a proctor, within 90 days of completing your approved CSM course.

    What is the passing score for the CSM exam?

    The passing score is 74 percent, which means answering at least 37 of the 50 questions correctly. Focus on broad mastery across all six CSM topic areas rather than any single section.

    Do I have to attend a course to sit the CSM exam?

    Yes. Scrum Alliance requires attendance at an approved CSM course delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST) before the exam is unlocked. Self-study alone does not qualify you to sit the exam.

    Which Scrum Guide edition is the course based on?

    The course is grounded in the current Scrum Guide by Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland, the November 2020 edition, which introduced the Product Goal and framed the Sprint Goal and Definition of Done as commitments. It is aligned to the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives.

    How many training hours does the CSM course include?
