Market Forces Driving COBIT 5-I Demand in Egypt

    Tightening Central Bank Regulation

COBIT 5-I builds governance lifecycle skills

    Rapid Digital Banking Growth

COBIT 5-I builds programme management skills

    Public-Sector Digital Transformation

Digital Egypt 2030 is modernising government services at scale, creating demand for governance professionals who can lead IT governance improvement and audit remediation across public bodies.

COBIT 5-I builds continuous improvement skills

    Scarce Certified Governance Talent

Your Governance Career, Before and After COBIT 5-I

    The Shift Egyptian Employers Reward

Egypt's banks, telecoms and public bodies are raising IT governance maturity under CBE regulation and Digital Egypt 2030, and employers increasingly separate certified governance implementers from the rest. Here is which side of that line you want to be on.

    Today

Pay capped with limited leverage to negotiate in the Egyptian market

    After COBIT 5-I

Governance and compliance manager roles in Egypt average around EGP 620K, with Head of IT Governance bands reaching far higher

    Today

Shortlisted less often for roles that list COBIT skills as preferred

    After COBIT 5-I

Eligible for senior governance roles across BFSI, telecom, consulting and government

    Today

Confident on theory, but employers want proven implementation capability

    After COBIT 5-I

Fluent in planning, governing and sustaining a COBIT 5 improvement programme

    You earn COBIT 5 Implementation

    Before

Governance influence rests on job title, not a recognised credential

    Now you have

A recognised governance credential valued by leading Egyptian and global employers

    Before

Stuck in audit or admin work with no formal governance mandate

    Now you have

A clear route into governance manager, consultant and Head of IT Governance roles

    Before

Framework aware from Foundation, but untested on real implementation

    Now you have

The skills employers want: the seven-phase lifecycle, change enablement and programme control

    Before

Recognition limited when you move sector or employer

    Now you have

A credential that travels across banking, telecom, consulting and the public sector

"The gap between knowing the framework and leading a governance programme is a recognised credential, and Egypt's regulated employers already know it."

    General

Is the COBIT 5 Implementation certification worth it in Egypt?

Yes. COBIT 5 Implementation validates your ability to lead a governance improvement programme, a skill in demand as Egyptian banks, telecoms and public bodies raise IT governance maturity under CBE regulation and Digital Egypt 2030. It maps to roles from IT governance manager to Head of IT Governance, which command strong salary bands locally.

What is COBIT 5 Implementation and who is it for?

COBIT 5 Implementation is the intermediate level of the COBIT 5 scheme. It validates the ability to apply the COBIT 5 implementation approach to plan and manage a governance improvement programme. It suits IT governance managers, GRC and compliance leads, IT auditors, consultants and CIOs.

How does COBIT 5 Implementation differ from Foundation?

Foundation validates knowledge of the COBIT 5 framework at awareness level and is a closed-book exam. Implementation is an open-book, application-level exam that tests your ability to apply the seven-phase lifecycle, change enablement and programme management to real governance scenarios. Foundation is the prerequisite.

Is COBIT 5 Implementation recognised internationally?

Yes. COBIT is the globally recognised standard for IT governance, and the COBIT 5 Implementation credential is valued by employers worldwide for governance, consulting and GRC roles. The examination is delivered through PeopleCert, which operates in over 200 countries.

What is the next step after COBIT 5 Implementation?

The next level is COBIT 5 Assessor, the advanced specialist credential covering the COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model, capability level rating and formal assessment reporting. Implementation is recommended before Assessor.

    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Implementation exam?

The exam is open book and objective, comprising 4 questions, each worth 20 marks, for a total of 80 marks. Only the COBIT 5 Implementation book and the COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide are permitted. It is based on the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus (2022 version).

How long is the exam and what is the passing score?

You have 2 and a half hours (150 minutes) to complete the exam. The pass mark is 50 percent, meaning you need 40 marks or more out of the 80 available.

What are the prerequisites for the COBIT 5-I exam?

COBIT 5 Foundation certification is required. Candidates who do not hold Foundation must take and pass it before sitting the Implementation exam. There is no formal work-experience requirement.

How and where do I take the exam?

The exam is delivered through PeopleCert, either online proctored via the OnVUE system, available 24/7, or at a PeopleCert authorised test centre. You can sit it from your home or office in Egypt or at a centre.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can re-sit the exam through PeopleCert. Our training includes mock exams and open-book technique practice to build readiness for the four topic areas, and we can guide you on re-sit steps. Verify the current re-sit policy at peoplecert.org.

    Course Content

What topics does the COBIT 5-I training cover?

The training covers four topic areas: the need for a governance framework and the seven-phase implementation lifecycle, change enablement, programme management, and continuous improvement, all at application level and aligned to the 2022 syllabus.

Do I need prior experience to take this course?

You need COBIT 5 Foundation certification, which is the mandatory prerequisite, as Implementation assumes Foundation knowledge. Beyond that, no formal work experience is required, though the level suits those who lead or support governance improvement work.

What are the seven phases of the implementation lifecycle?

Phase 1: What are the drivers? Phase 2: Where are we now? Phase 3: Where do we want to be? Phase 4: What needs to be done? Phase 5: How do we get there? Phase 6: Did we get there? Phase 7: How do we keep the momentum going? The lifecycle is designed as a continuous improvement cycle.

Are practice tests and materials provided?

Yes. You receive syllabus-aligned courseware, industry case studies, practice questions and mock exams to help you identify weak areas and build open-book exam readiness across the four topic areas.

    How long is the training?

The programme runs for 16 hours, typically delivered as two full days or four half-days. It covers all four Implementation topic areas at application level and prepares you for the open-book exam.
