What is the format of the DevOps Foundation exam?

The DevOps Foundation exam has 40 multiple-choice questions with a single answer each, and a duration of 60 minutes. It is a closed-book exam based on the DevOps Foundation Body of Knowledge and the current DevOps Institute exam blueprint.

What is the passing score for DevOps Foundation?

The passing score is 65%, which means answering at least 26 of the 40 questions correctly. There are no formal prerequisites to sit the exam.

What topics does the DevOps Foundation exam cover?

The exam covers six topic areas per the DevOps Institute blueprint: DevOps Foundations (16%), DevOps Concepts and Practices (18%), Agile, ITSM and Lean IT (14%), the DevOps Continuous Delivery Pipeline (20%), Automation and Tooling (12%), and DevOps Culture and Organisation (20%).

Where can I take the DevOps Foundation exam?

You can take the exam online through PeopleCert OnVUE online proctoring, or at an authorised test centre. It is often arranged through your training provider as part of a training and exam bundle.

What happens if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can resit the DevOps Foundation exam by registering again through PeopleCert. Our training includes mock exams and practice questions with first-attempt guidance to help you prepare thoroughly. Contact us to discuss retake support.

What will I learn in DevOps Foundation training?

You will learn DevOps culture, principles and practices across the full delivery lifecycle, including continuous integration, continuous delivery, Infrastructure as Code, DevSecOps and site reliability engineering, plus how DevOps relates to Agile, ITSM and Lean IT.

What frameworks and models are covered?

The course covers the Three Ways of DevOps, the CALMS framework, the DORA metrics, value stream mapping, Team Topologies and Conway's Law. These frameworks form the core of the DevOps Foundation Body of Knowledge.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest exam blueprint?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the DevOps Foundation Body of Knowledge and the current DevOps Institute exam blueprint, so you study exactly what the 40-question exam assesses.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full mock exams mapped to the 40-question, 60-minute format, so you can identify weak areas and build readiness before exam day.

How long is the DevOps Foundation training?

The instructor-led programme runs for 16 hours, typically delivered as two full days or four half-days. This covers all six exam topic areas and prepares you for the DevOps Institute exam.
