Why IT Governance Assessment Skills Are in Demand in Cyprus

    Rising EU Regulatory Pressure

DORA, MiCA and MiFID II require Cyprus banks, fintechs and investment firms to prove IT governance capability, the exact gap that structured COBIT 5 process assessment is built to close.

COBIT 5 Assessor builds evidence-based assessment skills

    Intensifying Enforcement

CySEC and the Central Bank of Cyprus are moving from guidance to fines and licence actions, so regulated entities need credible, defensible assessments of their governance processes.

COBIT 5 Assessor builds rating and reporting discipline

    iGaming and Fintech Governance Gaps

Fast-growing Limassol tech, gaming and payments firms scale faster than their governance matures, creating demand for assessors who can benchmark capability objectively.

COBIT 5 Assessor builds capability assessment skills

    Specialist Assessor Scarcity

Cyprus has a deep pool of general auditors but few professionals qualified to run formal, ISO/IEC 15504-aligned assessments, making COBIT 5 Assessor holders rare and valued.

COBIT 5 Assessor makes certified specialists stand out

    Cross-Border Group Assurance

Multinational groups headquartered or operating in Cyprus need consistent, comparable governance assessments across jurisdictions, which the PAM and ISO/IEC 15504 alignment deliver.

COBIT 5 Assessor builds comparable assessment methods

    Digital Transformation Risk

Cloud adoption and OT-IT convergence expand the governance estate, so organisations rely on evidence-based capability assessment to target improvement where risk is highest.

    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Assessor exam?

The exam is an open-book, objective-testing paper delivered by PeopleCert, either through OnVUE online proctoring or at an authorised test centre. Only the COBIT 5 Assessor Guide: Using COBIT 5 and the COBIT Process Assessment Model are permitted.

How many questions are in the exam and how long is it?

The Assessor exam has 8 questions, each worth 10 marks, for a total of 80 marks. You have 2 and a half hours (150 minutes) to complete it. All 8 questions are scored.

What is the passing score for the exam?

The pass mark is 50 percent, so you need 40 marks or more out of the 80 available. Ratings and answers must be justified with evidence, so broad mastery across the five topic areas matters.

Which books can I use in the open-book exam?

Only two references are permitted: the COBIT 5 Assessor Guide: Using COBIT 5 and the COBIT Process Assessment Model. No other materials are allowed, so efficient navigation of these documents is a skill the course builds.

What if I do not pass the exam on the first attempt?

You can re-sit the exam through PeopleCert; the training includes mock questions and first-attempt guidance to help you prepare thoroughly. Confirm the current re-sit policy at peoplecert.org before you book.

    Course Content

What topics does the COBIT 5 Assessor training cover?

The programme covers five topic areas: an overview of COBIT 5 process assessment, the COBIT 5 PAM, capability levels and attributes, assessment planning and execution, and evidence, rating and reporting, all aligned to the 2024 syllabus.

What is the COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model (PAM)?

The PAM is the ISO/IEC 15504-aligned model used to assess COBIT 5 process capability. It has two dimensions: the process dimension (the 37 COBIT 5 processes) and the capability dimension (six levels from 0 Incomplete to 5 Optimising).

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes scenario-based practice and mock questions mapped to the 8-question, open-book format, plus case studies, to help you identify weak areas and build readiness for the Assessor exam.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the COBIT 5 Assessor Exam Syllabus (2024 version), the COBIT 5 Assessor Guide and the COBIT Process Assessment Model, so you prepare against current exam content.

Do I need prior COBIT knowledge before this course?

Yes. COBIT 5 Foundation is assumed and required, and Implementation knowledge is recommended. The Assessor course builds on both levels and focuses on assessment at application and analysis level rather than reteaching the basics.
