Apply the COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model

Skills covered in COBIT 5 Assessor start with the PAM: its two dimensions, the 37 processes in scope, and the Base Practices, Work Products, Generic Practices and process profiles that form the evidence basis for every capability rating.

    Rate the Six Capability Levels

Work through the six capability levels from Level 0 Incomplete to Level 5 Optimising, and learn the threshold rules that determine when a process can be rated at each level based on collected evidence.

    Assess the Nine Process Attributes

Apply the nine process attributes from PA 1.1 Process Performance to PA 5.2 Process Optimisation, understanding what each measures and the evidence required to demonstrate achievement at each level.

    Plan and Execute Formal Assessments

Scope an assessment using the goals cascade, build the assessment team and plan, and collect evidence through structured interviews, document review and observation, then reach assessor consensus on ratings.

Use the Four-Point Rating Scale and Evidence

COBIT 5 Assessor is the highest level of the COBIT 5 qualification scheme. It validates your ability to plan, conduct, rate and report formal process capability assessments using the COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model (PAM), which is aligned to ISO/IEC 15504. It suits IT auditors, GRC specialists, governance managers and consultants.

    General

What is the COBIT 5 Assessor certification and who is it for?

COBIT 5 Assessor is the highest level of the COBIT 5 qualification scheme. It validates your ability to plan, conduct, rate and report formal process capability assessments using the COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model (PAM), which is aligned to ISO/IEC 15504. It suits IT auditors, GRC specialists, governance managers and consultants.

Is COBIT 5 Assessor worth it for professionals in Cameroon?

Yes. As COBAC oversight tightens and banking, mobile money and public services digitalise, Cameroon employers increasingly need certified assessors who can prove IT governance capability. Senior IT governance and audit roles in Cameroon reach FCFA 18M to 26M or more per year, and the credential is recognised in over 200 countries.

What are the prerequisites for COBIT 5 Assessor?

COBIT 5 Foundation certification is required before you can sit the Assessor exam. COBIT 5 Implementation is recommended and the Assessor syllabus assumes both Foundation and Implementation knowledge, so the course does not re-teach that content.

Is COBIT 5 Assessor recognised internationally?

Yes. COBIT is the globally recognised standard for IT governance, and the Assessor is its highest specialist credential, delivered via PeopleCert, which operates in over 200 countries. Its ISO/IEC 15504 alignment makes assessment results comparable across organisations and jurisdictions.

What is the COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model (PAM)?

The PAM is the ISO/IEC 15504-aligned model used to assess COBIT 5 process capability. It has two dimensions: the process dimension covering the 37 COBIT 5 processes, and the capability dimension covering six levels from 0 Incomplete to 5 Optimising, assessed through nine process attributes.
