Is COBIT 5 Assessor worth it for a career in Ivory Coast?

Yes. Abidjan is West Africa's banking hub, and demand for specialists who can measure IT governance capability is rising across banking, telecom and consulting. Certified assessors are scarce, so the credential helps you stand out for senior IT audit, governance and lead assessor roles.

It is recognised by employers worldwide for specialist IT governance assessment, IT audit and GRC roles, with exams delivered by PeopleCert across 200-plus countries.

How does COBIT 5 Assessor differ from Implementation?

Implementation validates the ability to plan and manage a governance improvement programme using the seven-phase lifecycle. Assessor validates the specialist ability to conduct formal capability assessments using the PAM and ISO/IEC 15504. Implementation covers governance delivery; Assessor covers governance measurement.

    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Assessor exam?

The exam is open book and objective. You may use only the COBIT 5 Assessor Guide: Using COBIT 5 and the COBIT Process Assessment Model. Questions require you to apply and analyse capability assessment in realistic scenarios, based on the COBIT 5 Assessor Exam Syllabus (2024 version).

How many questions are in the exam and how long is it?

The paper has 8 questions, each worth 10 marks, for a total of 80 marks. You have 2 and a half hours, that is 150 minutes, to complete it. The exam is delivered online proctored through PeopleCert OnVUE or at an authorised test centre.

What is the passing score for COBIT 5 Assessor?

The pass mark is 50 percent. You need 40 marks or more out of the 80 available to pass. Because the exam is scenario-based and open book, efficient navigation of the permitted references is as important as your underlying knowledge.

What are the prerequisites for the COBIT 5 Assessor exam?

COBIT 5 Foundation certification is required, and COBIT 5 Implementation is recommended. The Assessor exam assumes Foundation knowledge, such as the five principles and seven enablers, and familiarity with the implementation approach, so both are held before you sit the exam.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can re-sit the exam through PeopleCert; re-sit policy and fees are confirmed with PeopleCert. Our training includes mock exams, practice questions and open-book technique so you walk in prepared, and our team can guide you on rebooking if needed.

    Course Content

What topics does the COBIT 5 Assessor training cover?

The course covers the five syllabus areas: an overview of COBIT 5 process assessment, the Process Assessment Model, capability levels and process attributes, assessment planning and execution, and evidence, rating and reporting, all at application and analysis level.

What will I learn about the PAM and capability levels?

You learn the two dimensions of the PAM, the six capability levels from Incomplete to Optimising, the nine process attributes, and the four-point rating scale of Not Achieved, Partially Achieved, Largely Achieved and Fully Achieved, then how to apply them from evidence.

Do I need prior experience to follow the course?

You should hold COBIT 5 Foundation, and ideally Implementation, before attending, as this knowledge is assumed. Practical experience in IT audit or governance assessment helps, and the training uses real scenarios to build your assessment skills from that base.

Are practice materials and mock exams provided?

Yes. The programme includes assessment case studies, practice questions and mock exams mapped to the 2024 Assessor syllabus, so you can rehearse rating and reporting under open-book conditions and identify areas to strengthen before exam day.

Is the courseware aligned to the current syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the COBIT 5 Assessor Exam Syllabus (2024 version) and references the COBIT 5 Assessor Guide and the COBIT Process Assessment Model, the two documents permitted in the open-book exam.
