Governance Pressures Driving COBIT 5 Assessor Demand in the Bahamas

    Regulatory Assurance Gap

Bahamian regulators expect banks and licensees to evidence sound IT governance, yet many reviews stay informal and hard to defend. Formal COBIT 5 capability assessments close that gap.

COBIT 5 Assessor builds formal assessment skills

    Digital-Asset Oversight

The Digital Assets and Registered Exchanges Act 2024 raised governance expectations for fintechs and exchanges, demanding structured, repeatable assessment of IT and control capability.

COBIT 5 Assessor builds capability-rating skills

    Cybersecurity Resilience Mandate

With a national cybersecurity strategy and the CIRT now live, organisations must show that security and governance processes are managed and predictable, not merely performed.

COBIT 5 Assessor builds evidence-based assurance

    Government Digitalisation at Scale

The IDB-backed Government Digital Transformation programme is expanding public digital services, creating demand for assessors who can benchmark IT governance capability across departments.

COBIT 5 Assessor builds governance benchmarking

    Scarcity of Certified Assessors

The Bahamas has many general IT auditors but few professionals qualified to run formal, ISO/IEC 15504-aligned assessments, making the Assessor credential rare and sought-after.

COBIT 5 Assessor makes certified talent stand out

    AML and Compliance Demands

As an international financial centre, the Bahamas faces intense AML, KYC and internal-control scrutiny, pushing institutions to assess and improve the capability of their governance processes.

    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Assessor exam?

It is an open-book, objective examination based on the COBIT 5 Assessor Exam Syllabus (2024 version). Only the COBIT 5 Assessor Guide: Using COBIT 5 and the COBIT Process Assessment Model are permitted. It is delivered via PeopleCert OnVUE online proctoring or at authorised test centres.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 8 questions, each worth 10 marks, for 80 marks in total. You have two and a half hours (150 minutes) to complete it. The questions require application and analysis across realistic assessment scenarios.

What is the passing score for the COBIT 5 Assessor exam?

The pass mark is 50 percent, meaning you must score 40 marks or more out of the 80 available. Ratings and answers are judged on your ability to apply the PAM and justify decisions with evidence.

Which materials are permitted in the open-book exam?

Only two references are allowed: the COBIT 5 Assessor Guide: Using COBIT 5 and the COBIT Process Assessment Model. No other materials are permitted, so efficient navigation of both documents is an important exam skill the training develops.
