    You have up to three attempts to pass the CSM exam within 90 days of completing the course, at no extra cost. Our trainer-led preparation and practice questions are built to help you pass on the first attempt.

    How many questions are on the CSM exam and how long is it?

    The CSM exam has 50 multiple-choice questions and a 60-minute time limit. It is open book and taken online through the Scrum Alliance member portal after you complete the course.

    What is the passing score for the CSM exam?

    You need 74% to pass, which is 37 out of 50 questions correct. The exam tests knowledge and comprehension across Scrum theory, values, the Scrum team, events, artifacts and the Scrum Master role.

    Do I need to attend a course to sit the CSM exam?

    Yes. Attendance at an approved CSM course delivered by a Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Trainer is mandatory. The exam cannot be accessed until you complete the course, which unlocks it for 90 days.

    Can a beginner take the CSM course?

    Yes. The CSM has no prerequisites and is designed for people new to Scrum as well as those with hands-on experience. The training builds from Scrum theory to facilitation, so beginners can follow comfortably.

    What topics does the CSM training cover?

    The training covers the six CSM areas: Scrum theory and principles, the five Scrum values, the Scrum team, Scrum events, Scrum artifacts and the Scrum Master role, all aligned to the current Scrum Guide.

    How long is the CSM training?

    The CSM course runs as a 16-hour programme, delivered as two full days or four half-days depending on the schedule. Scrum Alliance requires a minimum of 14 hours of instruction, which the programme exceeds.
