Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management, recognising expertise in identifying, assessing, responding to and monitoring risk. It is designed for project risk managers, senior project managers, PMO analysts and consultants who specialise in risk on projects and programmes.

    General

What is the PMI-RMP certification and who is it for?

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management, recognising expertise in identifying, assessing, responding to and monitoring risk. It is designed for project risk managers, senior project managers, PMO analysts and consultants who specialise in risk on projects and programmes.

Is the PMI-RMP worth it for professionals in Manama?

Yes. As Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030 drives infrastructure, banking and energy programmes, employers in Manama increasingly want certified risk specialists. Risk management roles in the city average around BHD 40,000 a year, and the PMI-RMP reportedly adds a 15 to 25 percent salary premium.

Is the PMI-RMP recognised in Bahrain?

Yes. The PMI-RMP is a globally recognised PMI credential valued by employers across Bahrain and worldwide, especially in banking, oil and gas, construction and IT, where structured project risk management is expected on complex programmes.

Do I need a PMP before taking the PMI-RMP?

No. The PMP is not a prerequisite for the PMI-RMP. You can apply directly based on your risk management experience and education. Many holders do carry both, as the two credentials complement each other well.

How long is the PMI-RMP valid and how do I renew it?

The PMI-RMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 30 PDUs in risk management topics within each three-year continuing certification requirements cycle and pay the PMI renewal fee.

    Pricing

How much does PMI-RMP training cost in Manama?

Instructor-led PMI-RMP training fees in Manama vary by format and cohort, and are available on request in BHD. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI in USD. Request a quote or speak with a learning advisor for current pricing.

What is included in the PMI-RMP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, 32 contact hours, practice questions, mock exams, downloadable templates, application guidance and learner support, along with a course completion certificate. Ask about corporate pricing for teams.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PMI-RMP exam fee separately in USD. For reference, it is around USD 520 for PMI members and USD 670 for non-members; confirm current fees on pmi.org, as prices vary by region and change periodically.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-RMP exam?

The PMI-RMP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions, in single-answer and multiple-answer formats. It is delivered through Pearson VUE, either online proctored via OnVUE or at a test centre, and is based on the Examination Content Outline effective January 2022.

How many questions are on the PMI-RMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 115 questions and you have 2.5 hours, or 150 minutes, to complete it. Results are reported with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement.

What are the five PMI-RMP exam domains and their weights?

The five domains are Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%), per the January 2022 Examination Content Outline.

What is the passing score for the PMI-RMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is set through psychometric analysis, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains rather than a single target score.

How many attempts do I get, and where can I sit the exam?

You get up to three attempts within a one-year eligibility window from application approval. You can sit the exam online with OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

    Course Content

What topics does the PMI-RMP training cover?

The training covers the full risk lifecycle across the five domains: risk strategy and planning, risk identification, qualitative and quantitative analysis, risk response, and monitoring and closing risks, plus application guidance and exam strategy.

Does the training meet the PMI-RMP education requirement?

Yes for most candidates. The 32 contact hours fully satisfy the 30-hour risk education requirement for Set B and Set C applicants. Set A candidates need 40 hours and should add at least 8 more hours of risk education.

Are agile and hybrid risk approaches covered?

Yes. Reflecting the January 2022 Examination Content Outline, the course covers risk management across predictive, agile and hybrid delivery, so you can apply the techniques in the way your projects actually run.

    What learning resources are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions mapped to the exam, mock exams, downloadable templates and references to the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline and Handbook, supporting structured revision.

Which standard and edition is the course aligned to?

The course aligns to the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022, together with the PMI Practice Standard for Project Risk Management and the PMBOK Guide, which underpin the exam.
