What Is Driving Demand for IT Governance in Belgium

    DORA ICT Risk Pressure

Belgian banks and insurers are supervised under DORA by the National Bank of Belgium and the FSMA, and need governed, testable ICT risk management, exactly the improvement programmes COBIT 5 Implementation is built to lead.

COBIT 5 Implementation builds governance and risk skills

    NIS2 Conformity Deadline

Belgium set a hard NIS2 conformity assessment deadline of 18 April 2026 for essential entities, demanding evidenced governance controls that a structured implementation programme can deliver.

COBIT 5 Implementation builds programme management skills

    Governance Maturity Gap

Many Belgian enterprises hold governance policy but lack a strategy-aligned, measurable improvement layer, the gap the seven-phase COBIT 5 implementation lifecycle is designed to close.

COBIT 5 Implementation builds lifecycle and assessment skills

    Strategy-Execution Gap

Boards fund digital and resilience programmes, but weak links between strategy and the funded work cause value leakage that credentialed governance leaders are now hired to fix.

COBIT 5 Implementation builds prioritisation and value skills

    Governance Talent Scarcity

Belgium has a deep IT delivery pool but few professionals who can lead a governance improvement programme. The Foundation prerequisite and applied exam make holders rare.

COBIT 5 Implementation makes certified leaders stand out

    Cost and Capital Discipline

Cost pressure across banking, utilities and services pushes organisations to embed governance as a continuous discipline, retiring low-value work and sustaining maturity over time.

    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Implementation exam?

It is an open-book, objective examination based on the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus (2022 version). Only the COBIT 5 Implementation book and the COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide are permitted, and questions require scenario-based judgment.

How many questions are in the exam and how long is it?

The exam has four questions, each worth 20 marks, for 80 marks in total, and you have two and a half hours (150 minutes) to complete it. It is delivered online proctored via PeopleCert or at an authorised test centre.

What is the passing score for the exam?

The pass mark is 50 percent, which is 40 marks or more out of the 80 available. Because it is open book with scenario questions, both method knowledge and efficient navigation of the permitted books matter.

What topics does the exam cover?

Four topic areas: the need for a governance framework and the seven-phase implementation lifecycle; change enablement; programme management; and continuous improvement. Each is a scored question worth 20 marks.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can re-sit the COBIT 5 Implementation exam through PeopleCert; re-sit fees and policy apply. Our trainers provide first-attempt guidance, mock exams and open-book technique to help you prepare thoroughly. Ask an advisor about re-sit support.

    How long is the training?

The COBIT 5 Implementation programme is 16 hours, typically delivered as two full days or four half-days, covering all four topic areas and preparing you for the open-book exam.

Do I need prior experience to attend?

You must hold COBIT 5 Foundation, which is the formal prerequisite. Beyond that, the course is designed for practitioners who lead or support IT governance improvement, and trainers connect each concept to real organisational scenarios.

    What learning materials are provided?

You receive courseware aligned to the COBIT 5 Implementation 2022 syllabus, industry case studies, mock exams and practice questions, plus guidance on navigating the COBIT 5 Implementation book and Enabling Processes Guide for the open-book exam.

Is the courseware aligned to the current syllabus?

Yes. The course is aligned to the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus (2022 version) and the COBIT 5 Implementation Guide. COBIT 2019 is the current COBIT edition, but the COBIT 5 Implementation credential remains widely recognised.
