    What is the format of the COBIT 5 Assessor exam?

    It is an open-book, objective-testing exam based on the COBIT 5 PAM and the COBIT 5 Assessor Guide. It contains 8 questions, each worth 10 marks, for a total of 80 marks, and requires application and analysis in realistic assessment scenarios.

    How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

    The exam has 8 questions worth 10 marks each, 80 marks in total, and you have 2.5 hours (150 minutes) to complete it. All 8 questions are scored, with no unscored pretest questions.

    What is the passing score for the exam?

    The pass mark is 50 percent, so you need 40 marks or more out of the 80 available. Because it tests application and analysis, focus on being able to plan, rate and report an assessment rather than on recall.

    Which materials are allowed in the open-book exam?

    Only two references are permitted: the COBIT 5 Assessor Guide: Using COBIT 5 and the COBIT Process Assessment Model. No other materials are allowed, so efficient navigation of both documents is an exam skill we practise in training.

    How and where do I sit the exam?

    The exam is delivered by PeopleCert, either online proctored through OnVUE, available 24/7, or at an authorised test centre. That means you can sit it from Luanda or anywhere in Angola. Verify current retake policy with PeopleCert.

    The course covers the five Assessor topic areas: overview of COBIT 5 process assessment, the PAM, capability levels and attributes, assessment planning and execution, and evidence, rating and reporting, all at application and analysis level.

    What is the COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model (PAM)?

    The PAM is the ISO/IEC 15504-aligned model used to assess COBIT 5 process capability. It has two dimensions: the process dimension covering the 37 COBIT 5 processes, and the capability dimension covering six levels from Incomplete to Optimising.

    Which syllabus edition is the course based on?

    The training is aligned to the COBIT 5 Assessor Exam Syllabus (2024 version), the COBIT 5 Assessor Guide and the COBIT Process Assessment Model. The 2024 syllabus defines the topics, cognitive level and open-book exam structure.

    Do I need prior COBIT knowledge before attending?

    Yes. COBIT 5 Foundation knowledge (the five principles, seven enablers and process reference model) is assumed, and Implementation knowledge is ideal. These are not retaught in Assessor training, which builds directly on both levels.

    How long is the training and what materials are provided?

    The instructor-led programme runs for 16 hours, typically over two days, and can also be delivered over four half-days. You receive Assessor-aligned courseware, case studies, mock exams and practice questions.
